Luckiest Coach

Ok let me put it this way, Matt Moore, Jimmy Clausen, and Jake Delhomme would get Bill Belichick fired! Understand that?

That is completely irrelvant to my point. You said show you a team Moore took to the playoffs. I asked when he was given a chance. You said this year but he wasn't because he was benched after two games. I am waiting for you to tell me when Moore was given a honest chance to take a team to the playoffs. You can't because you know he wasn't that is why you continue to change the subject instead of answering my question. So I am done.

He had a honest chance before he threw 4 picks and had 2 fumbles as the starter in two games

what makes you think Belicheck would ever have put himself in a situation like that, Catdaddy? Do you remember what happened when Brady went down?

Coach has input in QB decisions...

They they won with a QB who was drafted in the 7th round who never started a college game. Dude that was luck, just like Brady was Brady was a 6th rounder that no one was high on and he comes in behind one of the best pure passers in the game and takes his job, thats amazing. It will probably never happen again in our lifetime

You really think that's luck...? That's talent evaluation and coaching.

Look at what he did in cleveland over 5 years. He is a defensive coach and they say only sits in on the defensive meetings. They were split over who to draft at that spot when they got Brady, him or Tim Rattay, so that should tell you something right there! Just pure good old fashion luck!

My argument with you is, you said we spent to much money on free agents the years you listed. I want you to show me the rank of money we spent compared to other teams in free agency and I bet we were not in the top ten. But my big picture argument is, Richardson won't spend money on players, and he won't spend big money on a big name coach. If Fox had a top 10 QB his entire tenure, this would not be a argument. He would be our coach for the foreseeable future. The other guy made a good point with the two QB's he said won the Superbowl who were just real average, but those teams had the number 1 defenses those years, and had a big advantage in the plus/minus turnover ratio also.

As far as free agent comparisons, that's not an accurate indicator. Our 1998 season was ruined mostly because of the free agents signed in 1995 and 1996, for example. Therefore, comparing what is spent every summer from year to year is not an indicator of anything. Like I said, I wish we were ranked 32nd.

You keep mentioning the Patriots. Do their top players come from free agency or from the draft?

This year and he looked like a brilliant QB for the Giant's that first game. I thought Eli would get traded since he completed all those passes to Giant players.

Maybe you should have also watched the first half of that game?

I remember Moore's first pick - hardly his fault. The Giants had 7 in the box; the Panthers had (I think) Jarret wide left and then sent Stewart wide right. I remember facepalming and calling that interception about 6 seconds before it happened. Barnidge didn't react to the ball at all and the Giant's safety just reached over Barnidge's shoulder and came down with it.

I don't see how that one was Moore's fault (though Kenny Albert and Moose Johnston were ripping him)

Sure, in the second half, the Giants owned the Panthers O-line, which is always going to make a QB look bad. Put your beloved Brady behind the Panthers line that week and his stats would have been similar.

    • His size will always limit him.  Do t kid yourself
    • When a team has EXPECTATIONS you have to show them that your fandom and praise is EARNED.  People would be mad if the they lost two one goal competitive games like 2023 but they wouldn't have gotten booed out of the building because the effort and competitiveness would be there but to lose in THAT fashion at home with your entire top line going free lance and saying fug this yeahhh.
    • Well with back to back road games to open the season again we really can't afford a "slow start" at least not for the psyche of the fanbase that is already at rock bottom from years of losing. I think that will depend on our approach to preseason this go around. But I do agree the makings of a culture change could be big for us. At the same time we heard talk of this last year and then we got the doors blown off multiple times. I can agree with you it's best to try to maintain perspective until we get closer to the midway point of the season. The main things I want to see early on even if we aren't necessarily winning is spark and toughness from the offense and defense and at least keeping games close.
