I'm unable to pick between Scott and Johnson. Each bring/brought their own uniqueness to the band. I can't picture Scott singing Thunderstruck or Johnson singing Ride On.

AC/DC calling it quits. Malcolm, 61, suffered a stroke a while back and it has left a blood clot in his head and he can no longer play guitar. His brother Angus Young, Bon Scott, & Brian Johnson are the more known members but Malcolm IS AC/DC. He started the band in 1973 & is the mind behind most of their power cords & signature tunes. Expected to recover but it has limited his ability to play, which he found out earlier this month when he went into the studio. They were planning on one final studio album & a worldwide "40th anniversary/farewell tour" in the near future.

All rumors, nothing official. Brian Johnson mentioned earlier this year that "one of the boys was seriously ill" but wouldn't comment further. Band expected to release statement this week.

FWIW...

AC/DC died on 02-19-1980. This official retirement announcement is long overdue.

Blah blah blah. Bon was A voice. Not THE voice. AC/DC was way more successful after 2-19-80, than before. Scott elitists are annoying.

This is what made AC/DC successful. Bon Scott's great lyrics & classic blues rock.

Ridin' down the highway, goin' to a show

Stop in all the byways, playin' rock 'n' roll

Gettin' robbed, gettin' stoned, gettin' beat up

Broken boned, gettin' had, gettin' took

I tell you folks it's harder than it looks

It's a long way to the top if you wanna rock 'n' roll

It's a long way to the top if you wanna rock 'n' roll

If you think it's easy doin' one night stands

Try playin' in a rock roll band

It's a long way to the top if you wanna rock 'n' roll

Hotel motel, make you wanna cry

Lady do the hard sell know the reason why

Gettin' old, gettin' gray, gettin' ripped off

Under-paid, gettin' sold, second hand

That's how it goes playin' in a band

It's a long way to the top if you wanna rock 'n' roll

Not this hot garbage. Brian Johnson's down syndrome lyrics & commercial metal noise.

I'll be damned if I drink or smoke

Damned if I steal your joke

I'll be damned if I go for broke

Damned if I do

And damned if I don't

I'll be damned if I drink or smoke

Damned if I steal your joke

I'll be damned if I go for broke

I'm damned if I do

I'm damned if I don't

I'll be damned if I drink or smoke

Damned if I steal your joke

I'll be damned if I go for broke

I'm damned if I do

I'm damned if I don't

I'll be damned

I'll be damned

I'll be damned

I'll be damned

I'll be damned

I'll be damned

I'm watching their River Plate concert from last year on AXStv right now.... had it on DVR...

Whole Lotta Rosie....

To be fair, they were 2 different bands. Bon with ACDC was more blues-based and played a very different style than when Brian Johnson was named the front man.

A simple third chord guitar with a basic drum and a lot of bass. Hard rock... not sure I'd ever classify ACDC as "metal."

does the drumming get any more complex with AC/DC or is that it?

AC/DC is a blues rock band. It's all about rhythm, not complexity.

Phil Rudd is great. About any drummer can sit at a drum set & play their songs, but not many would be able to play in rhythm with the band the way he does. His flow with the band is phenomenal.
