What would our record be right now if we signed a good WR during offseason

So we'd be better but our record would be the same?

Exactly where does one pick up one's trophy for a moral victory?

I didn't say we'd have the same wins either. I just said we'd be better. You can assume we'd have more or the same wins if you want.

We ignored a beast, an all time great, a man who is single handedly(sp?) making his team competitive for non football reasons, whether they are right or wrong isn't the issue.

Edit:

He was also cheap as f*ck.

at best we'd be looking at a top 5-10 draft pick instead of #1 overall.

only guy who would have seriously helped is boldin. TO is benefiting from 85 getting the double coverage. i suppose he would have benefited some from smith, but it would only be a nominal amount.

what's their record right now? 2-7? having TO and 85 together plus a better QB than we have hasn't helped much.

Wonder why the Bengals are 2-7 despite signing the vet free agent WR they needed. maybe because they have alot more issues than receiver (sound familiar), but of course thats not possible.

Just look at the Baltimore, they signed vet receivers, their doing good, they are also solid at all positions except secondary, which is what should have been their top priority.

There were quite a few great/noticeable WRs on free agency during the offseason such as Boldin, Marshall & even TO. What do you think our record would be right now if JR had not been so cheap & we had signed one of them? I say 4-5; would have upgraded our offense, cause less coverage on Smith & more passing.

8-1, 7-2 at the worst, everyone knows that the Panthers are only a true #2 away from the promised land. They have alot more need than JUST a decent WR, like FB,OL,DL,LB,SS to name a few. Ohh and a QB might help too.

I thought we had the talent to bring in a true #1 and make a difference.. but it's obvious there is far more wrong than that.. however, I'm not sold all the issues lie on the field..

bring in a new coaching staff and let him retool our roster..

however, we should have brought in one of those guys and locked up our need for a truly talented WR for the next 4-6 years.. it just wouldn't have been a move meant to help this year..

with Gettis and LaFell, we could have had an outstanding group of WRs.. especially with the leadership/work ethic Bolden would have brought.. then we could have focused all our efforts elsewhere and WR would be the least of our concerns for years...

I didn't say we'd win more games, but we'd be better. You can't deny that.

I didn't say we'd have the same wins either. I just said we'd be better.

So you didn't say we'd win more games. You didn't say we'd win the same number of game(s).

Therefore, you are saying we would have less win(s).

Huh. Ok.

    • Btw... only Mitch fugging Marner has a better +/- than Key 🔑!!! And, Mitchy needed 5 more games and almost 100 more shifts to get there.
    • I was honestly flabbergasted to see Rod send out Stanky and the boys to to matchup against their top line to start the game. The reason that line has been so effective is because they've been matched mostly against 2nd and 3rd lines all year. You've got last change. Use it to your advantage.
    • Nobody played well on defense last night. But, the vitriol towards Chatfield (and to a lesser extent, K'andre) is bigly misplaced. People (not just you) just refuse to accept how bad Slavin has been this season. And, I get it. Canes fans (and informed analysts) have spent nearly a decade trying to explain to casuals just how good Jaccccob is at hockey. 4Nations happened and the hockey watching public started to listen. National media even started floating the idea of creating a new award in his honor. Then this season, he gets hurt. It happens. NBD. But, when he finally came back, it wasn't the same. He'll get back to his old self in no time. Probably just some rust, it'll be fine. Only, it wasnt rust, and he's not fine. He's bad right now. It wasnt just last night. Although, that was absolutely the worst game of his NHL career. Slavin (-4) currently has the 3rd worst +/- of anyone left in the playoffs. We've  been begging the world to recognize Jaccob Slavin's greatness. And, by the time we finally got people to listen, he shits the bed! I blame Kash!
