DT is a desperate need

Out of all the crap we've seen this season, I don't think there's a larger glaring need than at DT. It's best evidenced by Ed Johnson, who was a starter at the beginning of the year and wasn't even active today. That tells you we have no talent at the position and the coaching staff is just throwing out whoever is playing the best('best' being an extremely relative term). With the talent and level of play that we're getting from the LB corp(when Connor was still playing mostly) we should have a top 10 defense against the run, but our DTs are getting absolutely destroyed and we're sitting in the 20s.

Hayden is great at tackling a runner.....after he gets pushed down the field 5 yards. Landri gets a good penetrating play.......once every 2 or 3 games. And that's pretty much where we sit. I honestly think our DEs are acceptable. Johnson is well above average and Brayton is a good versatile player. Brown might be below average but it's hard to judge him seeing that any QB has a perfect pocket to step up into and avoid him.

DT is for sure a need, no arguments here, but.. our entire defense would be playing a thousand times better if the offense wasn't so bad.

they're bound to be bad against the run when teams are playing with a multiple score lead most of the time, and running it so much.

long story short - there isn't a bigger need than getting a play maker on offense(preferably Andrew Luck.)

What we need is an offense that doesn't turn the ball over 3+ times per game and can actually put it in the endzone.

I agree with DT being a need, but not the biggest need.

Agreed 100%!!!

In a season that has seen offense at an all time high, Panthers offense are at an all time low. Even with that being the case the defense has managed to be respectable after countless three and outs and good starting positions for opposing offenses. Is it a need.... yes. But it's done the list after addressing our offense problems. You have to score in the NFL to win.

Definitely is a need. Not sure there's a DT I'd want to use the number one pick in the draft on, though (assuming we have it).

Given the general youth of the D-Line, I think I'd rather see that one addressed in free agency. Haven't looked at who's available though.

In top 5 ? Maybe the dude from Bama Marcell Dareus or Farily from Auburn. But over all its a SHITTY SHITTY DT draft.

    • I don't really care as much about athleticism and arm strength.  While Murray might be better in that regard, I think Bryce has enough of both to do well in the NFL. The main reason this trade reference is silly is the money and the fact that Murray has been around a long while and hasn't proven that he can perform consistently when the game is on the line.  Bryce has shown that he can play well in the clutch (in the few opportunities he has had).
    • If Bryce can continue the level of play he showed after the benching, then there's a good shot we at least compete to win the division. Tampa is a solid team but even last year in our week division they went 10-7 and will be on their 4th OC in as many years. The Saints are a mess and are in a mist of a half rebuild half still trying to compete mode and will probably be starting a rookie QB. The Falcons are a wild card as they have a really good offense but are we really crowning Michael Penix as a franchise QB after just 3 games?  The only thing I want out of this season is for Bryce to come out and without a shadow of a doubt prove he's our franchise QB. If that happens then most of the fanbase would be happy and I believe we'd be in a good place record wise at the end of the season. Maybe falling just short of winning the division with a chance to sneak in as a wild card team.
