You should wait until the 2nd release IMO. It will be out early next year and any issues with v1 should be fixed as well as added features. It will also cause the v1 price to drop significantly.

But I didn't know what to get her this year. I was in a pinch. The one I bought had some upgrades to it. it was like V1.2. Not sure what was altered from the original though.

I love mine. I have the 16GB WiFi only version. The portability and size make it worth the price. The only aggravating thing about it, is that it doesn't have flash. So you can't watch half of the videos on the internet.

Do you buy the monthly 3G wifi they offer? It's like $15 a month with no contract? Or do you have it through AT&T or Verizon?

I don't have a 3G model, it just works on my home WiFi wireless router. It's the cheapest model they have at $500. I don't do enough traveling to warrant buying a 3G model.

Ipad is awesome. We have three laptops in our house and everyone still wants the iPad. The crosswords app for me is the best app. I love crosswords and it downloads a bunch from newspapers every morning along with the solutions if i get stuck.

I have the 16gig version. No need for more when there is a free app called zumocast that streams anything from my pc or laptop to the iPad. Movies, music, pictures, everything. I can just browse the pc like an explorer window and open anything.

Can't say enough about the iPad. I originally got it just to keep my portfolio on it for clients but now I have not booted my laptop in weeks.

Also, no one has mentioned battery life. It lasts all day for me. Charge it overnight. Huge advantage over a laptop.

My daughter wants one...checked on prices...$409 16GB, $709 32GB 3G, $809 64GB 3G. Ouch, I didnt realize they were that much. I don't think the 16GB will be enough to watch movies.
