Jimmy Clausen

He will be our best quarterback in franchise history. Better than Delhomme. Will people quit the bashing on Clausen. Remember that he's only a rookie. Even Favre didn't have a good rookie season so quit all the drama with Luck. Luck will only be as good as Bradford. So yall peeps that keeps bashing on Clausen, don't become Clausen's fans overnight when he turns into "Favre". So prove me wrong in two yrs that Clausen is a bust.

i have yet to understand how people continue to evaluate a rookie's performance based on the overall pathetic performance of the team as a whole.

Same way you could tell Jarrett was garbage even with Delhomme throwing him the ball last year. Same way teams evaluate prospects from spread and gimmicky college offenses. It makes evaluation harder but not impossible, basically just ignore overall production and stats and look at the skillset.

Right now alot his problems are typical rookie mistakes and they look alot worse being in the terrible system/playcalling/supporting cast that we have. Footwork is bad, needs to sell the play action much better, looking off defenses and not staring down receivers to name a few. These things can probably be developed in a year or two, the main thing that worries me as I mentioned is that low sidearm throwing motion. Seriously doubt he makes any noise in the NFL if he doesn't fix that.

First time I saw his throwing motion I said "WTF is that and why wasn't it corrected during training camp"

Yeah, it's pretty bad when balls are barely skimming over the top of linemans heads. It's generally not something that's corrected very easily, though, which is why it's my main issue with him.

    • If you need someone to run your multi-billion dollar business, maaayyyybe don't hire a guy whose previous work experience includes repeated blows to the head and literal brain damage but IDK.
    • Extrapolate that with every QB for that matter. I guarantee you there's quite a bit of missed opportunities and yards left on the field for everyone. Many NFL QBs deal with WRs not putting in A+ effort, subpar o-line play and other deficiencies. The great ones are able to rise above these issues and create opportunities for plays. Guys like Josh Allen and Patrick Mahomes can both play in and out of structure, as well as find ways to get yards when things break down and mask mistakes by throwing guys open, creating opportunities from nothing, etc. Bryce Young has only shown he's able to make things happen when the rest of the team picks up his slack. Very rarely does he create those opportunities himself. When this is a consistent pattern year after year with Bryce where he shows up lackluster, it's a concern. This is year three and he should be elevating the team as a first overall pick this franchise traded up for.  He was far from elevating anyone against JAX. In fact, he needed others to elevate and create for him. Excuses may be fine for a rookie, but this is year three for the first overall pick. Not looking good so far.
    • I think the worst issue is coaching. Countless bad snaps, XL not getting his feet in or trying on runs plays, our centre being down field when he didn't need to be. All seem to be from poor coaching for me. I believe Canales is to soft to rip the players a new one when the fug up. Plus I honestly believe that Canales is slow getting his plays in giving Bryce less time to diagnose and adjust to the defence. Don't worry I could of head butted Bryce for that fumble and the 4th down throw aways but the other plays are explainable to me
