When the hell is armanti starting

As a fellow Armanti-ite, I would like nothing better than to see him start, but........ I suspect, and I read some mention of this, that Armanti is not starting because he isn't showing the staff that he can. I read that he was having some difficulties taking snaps under center (always at shotgun in college) and that he hasn't grasped the playbook like he should. You have to imagine that Fox would have him on the field if he was a good option----- with the losses, the pressure from local fans, and the nothing-to-lose-ness of the season. You have to believe he's not out there for a reason and not just for spite or the ineptness of the coaching staff--- they see him everyday and are desperate to win.

Also, I would argue that it will simply decrease his stock to have him as the next in a line of quarterbacks who fail to lead the team to victory (if if they play well). Even with his speed, the odds are stacked against him and if he gets some playing time and flails like the rest, that may be it for him in the future. Hell, now field goals aren't even a sure thing.

sounds an awful lot like many of the deangeloneans on this site.

Yeah except DeAngelo Williams is a Pro Bowler and the Panthers' all-time leading rusher. Armanti Edwards has done f**k-nothing, he just played for a bunch of homers' Alma mater.

Oh yeah and he muffed his way to the bench on the few occasions he was given significant reps in the preseason. Unless he turns into a starter or at least a hell of a utility player ala Devin Hester or Josh Cribbs he's a bust. We blew basically a late first rounder on him.

He is that, very talented.

When you're talking about an NFL roster, that doesn't mean nearly as much as you think it does. poo he had an uphill battle in front of him even when people were under the impression that he could be our Josh Cribbs during the offseason.

not sure how long you've been around, but the williams nuthuggers were acting the same way these armanti fans are long before he accomplished anything in the league...it started almost the moment he was drafted.

the site was littered with threads just like these.

Why is this thread just about Armanti at QB? I guess cause the title refers to him starting. How about just seeing him on the field? Was he even on the active roster? Munnerlynn is doing good on punt returns so I cant gripe about Armanti not being able to do that yet, but what about kickoffs? At this point of the season he should at least be the #4 WR. Either he still totally sucks or its Fox who is just going with the vetern in Clowney - who will most likely not even be on the roster next season.

I would think if you had a coaching staff that was going to be around next season and had traded a high second round pick for a guy that when your team is 1-9 and going nowhere fast you would at least have the guy suited up as your #4 WR.

    • It's also worth noting that Cam himself said that he felt safer when running vs. sitting in the pocket because he could see the contact coming and prepare for it. A QB running the ball doesn't have to be a sledgehammer. He just has to be effective.
    • That Falcons game is about as good as it gets. Especially on the road. I know the Falcons defense was bad but he was cooking with Coker, an undrafted rookie get the bulk of the receptions. If your QB has 5 TDs and 0 turnovers he is playing like a top QB, yardage be damned. The big question for me is how consistently can be play the whole season?  I don’t expect a game like that every week, but I also don’t want to see any performances like the pre benching or that Cowboys game (which was bad post benching). Bryce’s best shot at being the guy is becoming a mini-Burrow who is about as consistent as you can get at the QB position.  The good news is this QB class should be a fun one. So hopefully Bryce becomes the guy, if not it’s a nice class to let DC pick his QB and they should come into a great situation with a good OL, RB, young talented WRs etc…
    • Bryce Young is far less risky with his body when he runs than Richardson and doesn’t take many unnecessary big hits. Was much more worried about injury when he had that abysmal OL his rookie season than I ever would be when he runs/scrambles. 500/10 seems like a fairly reasonable prediction considering he had 250/6 in 12 starts last season. Of course literally anybody CAN get hurt, it’s just that we were assured by many huddlers that it was a sure thing with Bryce Young that he wouldn’t make it to this point in his career without significant injuries.
