What are the chances Kyle Orton touches Free Agency?

That there is a list of all the possible Free-Agent QB's after this season.

It's a pretty decent list of players, however, I don't envision many of them making it to Free Agency.

One, I could see making it is Kyle Orton.

One thing I think we all agree on is that we need some veteran leadership at the QB position next year.

None of want to go into next season with the whole year hinging on the ability of a rookie QB or a 2 year pro.

With The Golden Calf of Bristol there in Denver, Denver could be willing to part with Orton, especially if he wants a decent chunk of change.

There have also been some murmurs of McCoy returning to Coach here next year, although it doesn't seem incredibly likely, which would provide a connection between the 2.

So, how likely is it Orton slips into FA?

If he does, should we throw the house at him trying to convince him to sign here?

trading for a start-worthy QB would be far too costly, imo. better off drafting one.

there are some positions i want to trade for that make a lot of sense, but QB isn't one of them.

FA class sucks for QBs so don't look there. only thing we can hope for as far as vet QB is an old one with a lot of PT who will be a good set of eyes on the sidelines and who can mentor the young guy.

But we need Andrew Luck. LOL seriously, I think one young QB to develop is enough we need a VET QB that can teach Clausen something and trade down if we are picking 1st to someone who is desperate for a franchise QB. I mean you look around the league and as always about a half dozen teams could use a upgrade at QB.

1. Minnesota - Mr. T Jackson really the guy?

2. San Fran - Is the Alex Smith experiment over? How good is Troy Smith?

3. Seattle - Is Charlie "TD Jesus" Whitehurst the answer?

4. Jacksonville - If LA comes calling is David G. gonna put butts in the seats?

5. Washington - McNabb is pretty damn good but how many years does he have left?

Will any of these teams be willing to leapfrog the Bengals, Cardinals or yes Buffalo (who is still proclaiming Fitzpatrick as the answer) to get the top prize of the draft?

I will say this now if the new coaching staff fall in love with Luck they will not bother to acquire a top FA QB. It's simple economics you don't pay a number 1 QB to sit on the bench or pay for a decent FA vet to hold a clipboard and mentor. So all the Lady Luck people need to realize they can not have it both ways.

I can almost guarantee you we sign a veteran out of FA this offseason. Nobody within the organization will likely want to go into next season with the same youth at the QB position that we had this season, and with the increasing possibility that Luck doesnt come out, I could really see us making a move via trade to bring in a proven commodity this offseason. even if we decide to go the FA route, I think the FO will want someone proven, even if Luck is here. I don't think the asking price on a guy like Orton will be incredibly high, and we do have some trade bait.

    • I can say that I have defended Canales because I get that they are doing all they can to keep from looking like idiots for drafting Bryce, from the trade up to signing $150m guards to drafting XL and Brooks etc---nothing seems to work.  And Hiring Canales was part of the Bryce Young rehab program, so so he can't really decide to "move on."  That has to come from Morgan and Tepper. Personally, I think Bryce is due for an injury.  He is small, he is not thick, and he has been a LOT more healthy than most any other QB has who has endured so much pressure.  The thing that bothers me is this---Bryce really does not go through his progressions quickly.  He locks on to his presnap read and stays locked onto him for too long--he seems to fail to anticipate the WR/TE's positioning on the play before the cut--for example, if the WR is running a dig and the CB has his back to the inside of the field, he should be open for a second or less just after the cut.  He seems to wait until the cut has been made before deciding, then checking down quickly while moving in the pocket. OL:  There seems to be a lack of communication--is that on Mays?  Watch this team presnap--they seem a bit confused at times.   I can almost predict the success rate of the play by watching the center and QB before the snap.
    • Anyone else remember back in 2010 when Fox piloted having music under the in-game replays during one of Carolina's games? Not the commercial bumpers but the actual replay clips that the announcers would talk over. Pretty sure it was vs the 49ers. And it was terrible. Point being, Carolina continues being so bad that we get the networks trying things out during their games.
    • Is it bad I found this video more hilarious than pathetic? I am still laughing at that one play where half the people on the field ran into each other and Bryce still couldn't see Chuba wide open... Also laughing at Cade blocking nobody and somehow losing his cleat Man this offense is a poo show
