Who fits the Tampa 2 and Who dose not. My break down.

Forgot to throw in that Tampa's best defenses also had a safety that wasn't the fastest guy on the field but could deliver a bone jarring, teeth rattling hit in John Lynch. We have 'that guy' in Chris Harris.

Davis is a better example. He has good speed and quickness and very good pass rushing skills that were not used much this year.

I disagree with you assessment about Gamble being avg against the run and with tackling. Gamble was a nightmare this year in run support, he was a flawless tackler and was invaluable against the run. Your assessment does fit the pre-'08 Gamble, but is horribly inaccurate for what we saw this year. I just hope he continues his improvement.

Not sure why this is even relevant. Are all the players being traded somewhere that will run the tampa 2?

Just got tired of people saying yea Jon Beason will suck in the Tampa 2 while Kemo will be a beast in it. So I figured I would just help people understand who would fit and would would not fit. We want know if he will run a true Tampa 2 till TC.

I will agree that he has gotten better and almost wanted to say he was a good run stopper but really this year will tell the tail.Really thats JMO though. Haha really all of its IMO. :smilielol5:

Coordinators like meeks have run more than one style in their career. Meeks is very knowledgeable and can run a zone, man or hybrid system and likely can run a 4-3 or 3-4. They aren't so different concepts that a coach can only do one thing. Football is more about fundamentals and responsibilities on every play than it is about the scheme. it is about execution and being in a position to make a play. Diagnosing the offensive scheme and making good reads and reacting to the play. That is universal to football and something we didn't do well last year.

We may play a bit more Tampa 2 than we already do, but we won't play it full time.

Fox has used a version of the tampa 2 since he's been here. Just they don't play out of it full time.

Everyone is pretty much running with the assumption that the team will convert to a pure Cover Two. You could see that given the hire, but I don;t think it's a lock.

No I don't see us running it full out, but we do run it on occasions, We still have Harris and we like lining him up in the box and running a cover 1, we should use it more often next season then this season. What I like about the hire is he'll help out the secondary. We will get our #1 turnover crown since 2002 back next season. Gamble and Godfrey will have big years.

Tampa 2 traditionally runs a nose tackle/under tackle front. Sapp was the under, McFarland was the nose. Kemoeatu would fit there. We did that a fair bit over the last seven years anyway, but certainly the above posts are correct that we don't know how much Tampa 2 we'll supposedly run.

Kemo's size is not as much a factor as his poor pass rush. I really dont have to tell you what Sapp could do.
