Only one of these things can happen this year.

Technically, neither of those things can happen this year.

Both could conceivably happen next season, but I wouldn't bet my house on the combo.

Bottom line though: They aren't mutually exclusive. There's nothing that says you can't do both, which means asking to choose between the two doesn't really make sense.

Luck or no Luck, I seriously doubt we're in contention for the Lombardi next year. However, picking him puts in a better position for it in the future.

if you're talking about this year, if we won the superbowl we would probably already have a QB that was worth a crap and we wouldn't really need luck.

if we have luck then we would probably have a QB that would help get us into position to get into and win the superbowl every year.

until we have a great QB we aren't going to be sniffing a lombardi.
