Oliver Luck's Interview Yesterday (Oliver is Andrew Luck's Father)

Maybe Luck does not want to play for Panthers

QB's in past drafts have not wanted to play for certain teams

This could also be a factor in if he comes out

In the article just posted one of the reason he went to Stanford was so he could blend in. He will want to go to a city that he wont be hassled if he goes out and from past players Charlotte isnt the place. Kid seems like a good guy and all and if he did come here I would be happy. But everything in my gut says he wont be here.

read up or follow the link to the reports, already commented on... and discussed at length in another thread... it's harbaugh's comment to king

You dont think Yaz made a call to the Panthers office to follow this up? Where there are rumbles there is usually answers.

You really think that the Panthers FO is dysfunctional enough to actually tell some reporter that Smith and Gamble won't be with the team next year... while they both still have a game to play??

No I don't think Yaz has contacted the Panthers about his theories and gotten any kind of response. I think he's going based on interviews and the same speculation we all are going off of.

Let's really analyze this

OL: I think anybody who understands labor negotiations could look at a situation now and say that there is at least some likelihood that there could be work stoppage, whether that is a strike or a lockout. The only thing I can say to kids who are considering coming out early, like my son (Pat Y of ESPN seems to think there are reports that already know he is staying--this tells everyone that he is considering the NFL and suggests that the labor dispute is an issue.) is that there is a possibility, how strong that possibility is for work stoppage, I don't know. But there is a possibility and it's one of the things you have to factor in.

MM: It's got to be good when it comes time for your son to make his decision, that at least he has someone with some experience in his corner, who can sit down and give him some advice.

OL: Well, he'll make his own decisions. He's a smart kid, and he's made good decisions in life, going to Stanford and playing for coach [ Jim] Harbaugh(Why did he add "playing for Coach Harbaugh?" Could that suggest that if Harbaugh leaves, his son's interest in Stanford decreases? I think so. I think he sees a dropoff without JH. I also see him following JH to Carolina if he comes here. And he's got plenty of people, me included that will give him advice. But ultimately it comes down to a pretty simple question, what does he want to do? I think virtually ever college kid, including my son, wants to challenge himself against the best, and the best is the NFL. (This tells me that his father wants him to go pro, because he wants to see him getting challenged by the best. This also suggests that he thinks his son has already proven all he needs on the collegiate level. In a few words, there are no more dragons to slay in college.)

I do not see him returning to Stanford if Harbaugh is not there.

The NFL is a challenge and my son is ready for that challenge.

It is his decision, and I respect that, but he will hear my side before he decides.

yeah his dad is pushing for him to go to the NFL it sounds like, which IMO will weigh pretty heavily. One of the reasons that Luck supposedly wanted to stay at Stanford was because his family had taught him from a young age the value of a degree... so perhaps having a father that says, "Look, going to the NFL this year isn't going to prevent that, and you are ready for that challenge" will help him out.

Nice find. Half the people on this board wont read it though. Gives a good insight into the kids state of mind and what he values.

That article was also written in August, before his stock blew sky high. A lot can, and hopefully for our sake, has change about his views of school and the NFL.

    • Not sure who said it first, but Tepper is the correct answer. Still, I'm gonna go with Kasay keeping it inbounds. If, you subscribe to the butterfly effect version of time travel consequences.... When we win SBXXXVIII everybody's lives change: Moose never breaks his leg, We win it all again in 05. Tommy Jone is unknown and Peppers stays home, Champs once more 2008. No artificial pig heart turning JR into a creepy weirdo, no lockout, no Clausen. Fox and Jake ride off into the sunset on their own terms. No 2-14, no #1 pick. But, no laptop, no Blinn, 3 years behind The Golden Calf of Bristol, we still get Cam. JR let's him grow his locs like he always wanted, Smitty sees Cam in a new light. Dreads swinging, (and Smitty with his 3 Lombardis behind him) Cam is old enough to get those calls. No Manning narrative, Cotchery TD, PI against Talib on Philly Brown, 10,000 RTP calls and Kony Ealy SB50 MVP. No Jeans Fridays, no Tepper. KB doesn't slip on his own meatsweat mid-route in SD, Cam becomes the 1st QB to win 10 straight SBs. Retiring after being elected 47th president of the US of A, Cam ushers in the Permanent Proletarian Revolution across the globe, Xi Jinping bows in awe. "ẄøŘƙƐṛ§ őF ŧĤə ŵØRłð, ŮŊÏŦƐ!!!"
    • Yeah your right the owner was copping hand shandies while all this was going down
    • I mean not surprised the Patriots took him in and aren't trying to push him out. They've been the most morally bankrupt team in the NFL for a long while. Wouldn't be surprised if Vrabel has his own dirt on Kraft/Brady and other assholes from that organization over the last couple decades.
