What would Luck's jersey number be?

as opposed to "he hasnt won anything but the scouts are high on him!"

Gee what can I say to that? I certainly couldn't point out that Luck's skillset down to the offense he played in translates much better to the NFL, because that wouldn't be correct. It would also be a bad idea to point out that the best defense Newton has ever lined up against in his life couldn't hold a candle to the worst NFL defense out there because that would be wrong too. Pointing out the poor track record of spread option quarterbacks in the NFL would be a weak choice as well.

again, Newton's draft stock at the moment, by one major outlet:

24. Mark Ingram* RB Alabama 92

25. Justin Blackmon* WR Okla. State 92

26. Tyron Smith* OT USC 91

27. Allen Bailey DE Miami 91

28. Drake Nevis DT LSU 91

29. Cam Newton* QB Auburn 90

30. Corey Liuget* DT Illinois 90

31. Ryan Mallett* QB Arkansas 90

32. Brandon Harris* CB Miami (FL) 90

that, plus J.R. not going to have a team leader at the most important position with a criminal record and tons of related controversy means we should be guessing the Jersey number of:

1a) Luck

2) possibly Locker in trade down, Fairley, Bowers, Peterson, or Greene

Charlie Ward won alot in college.

newflash: CFB and the NFL are two entirely different games

Alex Smith won alot in college and was hailed as a "cant miss prospect" and a "sure fire #1 draft pick".

newsflash: Qbs like Luck are a dime a dozen and come out every year full of hype and promises. Last year it was Clausen. This year its Luck. Next year, it'll be someone else. Wash, rinse, repeat.

Aaron Rogers nearly got drafted #1 instead of Alex Smith.

Neither were hailed by Scouts and the man himself(Elway), as the best prospect since Manning, and as good a prospect coming out as John Elway.

lol who the hell though Luck and Clausen were even in the same league. You're thinking of Sam Bradford and I'd say he's doing alright as a day one starter.

    • Some people will shift the goal posts but he does still have to consistently help the team win, eventually. Not only help but be the reason. That's what franchise QB's do.
    • One of the Carolina Panthers' newest defenders thinks their pass rush can go from worst to first. ESPN's David Newton recently chatted with outside linebacker Pat Jones II, who signed with the Panthers as a free agent earlier this offseason. Jones comes over from an awfully impressive Minnesota Vikings defense—one that ranked first in takeaways (33), fourth in sacks (49) and second in QB pressure rate (44.4 percent) this past season. And despite a historically-bad campaign by Carolina's defense in 2024, the 26-year-old seems to believe his new unit can be similar—or even better—than his last. "I definitely think we could do something similar, if not better," Jones said, via Newton. "I've seen it before, so I know what it looks like. I look around the building and see we have exactly what it takes to do that." https://pantherswire.usatoday.com/story/sports/nfl/panthers/2025/05/24/panthers-pat-jones-vikings-espn/83840667007/?taid=683219b347846900018fa10a&utm_campaign=trueanthem&utm_medium=trueanthem&utm_source=twitter     It's the offseason.  Let hope spring eternal. (actually, I think we are much closer than this board thinks)
    • 5 total TDs against the Falcons was pretty good efficiency and he showed that ability to go off scripts and get 2 of those TDs rushing.  How many times did he deliver big time throws against pressure.  I agree we need to see this offense operate at high efficiency which starts with Bryce. When he does I hope the goals posts won’t shift to some other stat like QB sneaks lol
