i am fine with going defense with every other than the first pick.......the first pick is andrew luck or die....you dont trade away a chance at a franchise QB..nobody wants to be the team that pass on jordan...nba reference

1 David Carr QB Fresno State Houston Texans

2 Julius Peppers DE North Carolina Carolina Panthers

3 Joey Harrington QB Oregon Detroit Lions

4 Mike Williams T Texas Buffalo Bills

5 Quentin Jammer DB Texas San Diego Chargers

6 Ryan Sims DT North Carolina Kansas City Chiefs

7 Bryant McKinnie T Miami (Fla.) Minnesota Vikings

Truth is that defense wasn't the issue as much as scoring only 12 points a game. New England is the perfect example of a team that is great with a mediocre defense.

If we scored 30 points a game this year our defense would have been more than adequate. Improving the defense without improving the offense just means we would lose by single digits instead of double digits.

so do you think we will go out and spend money on them...actively search out in pursue guys who's main motivation is "f**k you pay me"......or obtain a good one through the draft with new league rules to set a pay scale so we dont over pay...and a trade for someone who already has their pay scale set....its alot harder to obtain good talent for cheap through FA...and from what we've seen the FO wants cheap

Their is no SUH in this draft. I might have agreed with you if their were but their isn't . No Dt in this draft is worth the number 1 overall pick. You can get a DT like Marvin austin in the 3rd round who may have some issues but just as talented as the top DT in this draft. Plus D lewis was a sloid DT we got in FA we can get more like him. You don't pass up on a talent like Luck if you have the chance plain and simple.

would you say Peppers was known to be a wayyyyyy better than carr that year...without knowing what we know now...if so the using your logic the Texans passed on jordan.....nothing is certain my friend...but i know one thing..the hardest position to make the transfer from college to the pros is QB...whats the easiest DT...you gotta gap and to quote Mike Singletary "you go out and hit people in the mouth"

Yes, and that's why the good quarterbacks are few and far between. That's also why you can't pass up someone like Luck if you have the chance to take him.

If defensive tackle is the easiest position to transfer from college to the pros, why would you take such a player with the No. 1 pick?

you miss the point here....theres not dispute between a good defensive player and cant miss qb prospect within the first 2 picks...hell the first defensive player isnt picked till the 5th pic...btw .....eli went to the giants and the raiders cant draft for poo
