Cam Newton is a superior version of Josh Freeman

Freeman 6'6 248. Ran alot at KState. More so than Culpepper who is equallly big.

Freeman has Tampa team on the verge of 10 wins. 23 td's and only 6 ints.

Cam, get real close to your speakers, IS FAR AND AWAY HANDS DOWN BETTER THAN FREEMAN!!!

Shut your mouth and stop whining about black qb good or bad.

As someone pointed out in the Exhibit A thread about running qb's being injury prone, Exhibit C is Matt Stafford. The Lions brought out Shaun Hill and for God's sake they even let Drew Stanton play 6 games. Drew Stanton.

I'm telling you the Panther's have house money IF, Luck OR Newton go pro.

I am having a minor personal crisis. Me and Pstall are on the same page. Yeah, it has to do with important things like football not politics but still. I agree we are in the catbird seat whether Luck declares or not. Cam would put us on the national map like we have not had since our Super Bowl bid.

The more I think about Newton, the more I like him. But the problem is that we have the #1 pick and because of that I want a SURE THING...not a guy that has question marks. Luck doesn't have question marks and Newton does because of his style of play. I think Newton is an upgrade over anyone we have ever had and could be a great QB for us. I just don't know if I'm willing to risk the first #1 pick in Panthers history.

Newton has yet to play a single down in the NFL. College success doesn't equal NFL success. So no way can you actually say Cam is hands down better.

Freeman seems like a smart kid with a good head on his shoulders. Cam Newton is a damn mongoloid and doesn't deserve to be a top 10 pick. There is no way he can go through progressions every down. Vince Young is better than he is.

The mentality is definitely something I am worried about with Newton. Like I said in an earlier thread, he has always been bigger, stronger, and faster than his competition. How will he adjust when he can't do whatever he wants outside the pocket?

    • Sounds encouraging.  I agree about the LB....I was CERTAIN second round would be a LB.  I would also like to add that, on paper, DL looked solid--but only 1 performed well in 2025 (2 if you count Robinson, who is now gone).  I am guessing they feel that the LB play will improve with the improvement up front--logical.  Remember the old rule (not sure who said it first) "You build from the inside out, front to back."   We drafted, in my early opinion, a starting NT and C this year.  inside out, front to back.
    • Agree--I think a mid-level tackle but he could prove to be an elite G--not sure how he would do at RT--or maybe Freeling---lotta moving parts--but I would look at him at G if mid-level T is his ceiling--he has been improving, but the injury..
    • Worked an event that many players were at including Ickey. Talked to him, looks and walks around good/normal. Taylor Moton released a new Tequila with his partner Matt Kahlil. Taylor looks great and is psyched for the season. He's such a good guy. Even Derrick Brown, very focused. It's like a quiet, calm I'm gonna rip through you confidence. Building his forever home and sticking around CLT. Bryce stopped in, but was upbuilding talking to the guys, not drinking, smoking cigars like others. There was little different aura with them, almost a quiet confidence, some fun. Reminded me of the 2013-2018 era. Had an event Tuesday with TD (he was there last night too) and he thinks the team looks real good, maybe just needs an another LB. He loves the Devin Lloyd pick up.  No negative comments, just giving a nice update on some players.
