how did you get cheap from this? He's said repeatedly he'll spend money on a coach. Their primary concern is winning and they pointed out that the winning coaches have come from the assistants, that playoffs teams are built that way, and of course (ugh) that the Steelers are.

Won't sign players until the CBA is done is his stance... has been all along.

I got cheap because it is cheap. He didn't have to say "I'm cheap." It's obvious. He doesn't want to go after a big name because it will cost more. He'd rather play duck, duck, goose, with loser assistants like Perry Fewell that shouldn't be anything more than positional coaches.

So that way we can come back 5 years from now looking for another new coach and say that one didn't work out, but hey, he saved a couple mil.

he didn't have an opinion one way or the other about harbaugh or any coach for that matter. all he said is that money wasn't going to be a factor. he did say that they were going to be a lot pickier about what they expect from them.

wow some people are just fuging stupid.

Harbaugh is a college coach, before the Luck/Harbaugh scenario arose every single one of us would have scoffed at hiring a college coach.

Now he's the second coming of Jesus The Golden Calf of Bristol and JR is "cheap" if he doesn't hire Harbaugh. Jesus what a bunch of pussies

JR isn't getting in a bidding war for Harbaugh, since he's never been an NFL Coach is my guess.

Personally I think the Harbaugh/Luck scenario, while expensive up front would generate enough buzz to more than Pay for the investment down the field. Compared to where we are going, Russ Grimm

So many fans are acting like spoiled brats, have you ever seen somebody run a business before?

Should we hire Cowher since he won the Superbowl 5 years ago? We did that with Seifert I don't remember that working out too well.

He was paying Fox and staff 11.5 million which he said was 5th highest in the league. How is that cheap?

Harbaugh might want more than just a lot of money. He might want more control of a team than we are willing to give. Also, how many times does the man need to say he's not going to be cheap before you believe him? Having the 5th highest paid staff in the NFL is by no means cheap.

    • I mean, if Moore really wants out, then it would behoove the Bears to make it happen sooner than later. X is a lot younger and cheaper, and may be a better fit for Johnson's musings than a disgruntled, unnecessary, overpaid vet. If they can dump his salary and maybe get a fourth or so in return, it may be worth it to them. As for development, I'm not concerned. You're talking about a seeming bust, a day three guy and a UDFA. They are developing relative to their ceilings. I doubt any of them will ever command the coverage, money, or the respect that Moore has acquired. He's a tier above them. Yes, even X.
    • IMO, if Ceedee plays against us, the game probably goes the other way. Same with Tyreek Hill and the Dolphins. Our team just isn't designed to beat teams with two high level receivers like that. But when you look at the league, how many teams really have two guys of that caliber?  There's nothing wrong with defensive adjustments, but sometimes I think a lot of fans want Evero to call a different play like a game on madden, and defensive football just isn't like that. That said, I thought we did a much better job this season against the Cowboys of flipping Jaycee and at least making them work for it, opposed to last season when they literally just lined CeeDee up on the other side of the field every single snap.  For us to just straight up switch to consistent man coverage, or a different zone, or whatever, we likely would consistently need different personnel on the field. Doing it a few times a game is a gamble and can work, but if we consistently run man coverage against the Cowboys, eventually a RB is going to beat a linebacker, or something of that nature with our personnel. Part of the reason Evero likes this scheme is that, while we have our defaults and presets, what we do is very multiple, and you can do a lot of different things pre and post snap. We are a challenging defense to read. But as you said, if guys are getting beat, it doesn't really matter what you call.
