I haven't really seen anybody say he could play, what I and others have said is he wasn't given the chance to get better. If teams just start dumping rookies after one bad season with a coaching staff providing no support for that player. The Panthers will never know what players are really any good. I'm not saying we should hold on to Clausen as long as we did with DJ or Colbert, but damn after just one season?

They also have to show something to hold on to. It's not the fact that he showed we SHOULD dump him, it's the fact that he hasn't shown why we SHOULDN'T dump him.

Most rookies show something. Gettis had a baller game along with LaFell, Hardy made plays, Clausen didn't do much of anything.

I have ZERO confidence in Clausen... I thought it was a bad pick when we drafted him and so far I have seen nothing from Clausen to change my opinion

Look I think Jimmy will improve in training this year and won't be the train wreck he was last year.

But if we draft a FA vet or Moore comes back, I still bet he loses his starting job in training camp before the season starts. He has a lot to learn, and I would be truly surprised if he can make that kind of improvement in the off-season. If he can transform like that, then I will even go as far as to say he deserves the start.

For him to do that though, he needs to start training now on his own time, and I mean that. Take a a couple of weeks with his family, then find a QB coach that can work with him daily and WORK HIM until training camp starts.

That's the kind of training he needs.

Let me say this first - Clausen looked like garbage for the whole season, he had one or two decent games and thats that.

However if he comes into TC as the starter with a New QB coach who works with him, then he could be a good QB in a WCO or something similar to that.

Im sorta on the fence about Clausen next year. Part of me feels that he will suck and will finally silent the "he's a rookie" crowd. Another part of me thinks he "gets us by" to 6-10 and probably someone like Matt Barkley in 2012.
