Kevin Kolb anyone?

I expect the Eagles to keep Kolb as a backup to Vick. Vick has a history of getting banged up so they need a solid alternative as backup. The only way they part with Kolb is for multiple 1st rounders, at least that's what I have heard. There is no way Kolb is worth even one 1st rounder, IMO.

Now that drafting Luck is probably out of the question (he still has 8 days to change his mind), and with the coaching staff on its way out, it seems vital that we upgrade the quartback coaching position with someone new who has proven himself capable before we throw an additional quarterback of indeterminate quality into the mix.

While many folks rip Clausen for not improving as the season matured, Rip Scherer wasn't able to help any of the lot either. No new head coach will succeed without a force in the areas of great need. Here's a few QB coaches of note:

Alex Van Pelt - Tampa Bay Bucs - Under an inexperienced head coach, this QB coach was able to make 2nd year QB Josh Freeman look really good, and getting some scoop on a division rival is always a bonus.

Ben McDaniels - Denver Broncos - Coached up Kyle Orton who played an outstanding season this year, and The Golden Calf of Bristol who played well on a weak team in his rookie year.

James Urban - Philadelphia Eagles - He knew when McNabb was disposable, he knew when Vick had improved enough to start, he knew when Kolb needed to sit, and he participated in the analysis and drafts of many good QBs.

Richard Curl - Saint Louis Rams - Coached up the most expensive rookie ever in Sam Bradford to compete for the division title amidst a new and fluxuating receiving corps, albeit in a weak division.

If they asked for two first round picks, they'd get no offers for him.

I suspect that like all free agents this year, Kolb will be a victim of a late agreement on the CBA. With players like Kolb available, the urgent need to draft a QB who may never get to practice before the regular seasons starts is greatly reduced.

if anyone thinks he is worth any extra pick other than only a 1st.. you're crazy..

I wouldn't even want to see a 1st given up for him. he was drafted in the 2nd and hasn't proven a damn thing.. he should be worth only a 2nd at the most..
