i genuinly hate fake ass fans like you, though i would probably not put this much effort into telling you so had we not just gone 2-14 so..sorry..blame jerry richardson and good luck to your new team the colts.. i guess

I never lose hope, I'm excited to see who we get for a coaching staff and how they re-shape this roster. JR is far from content with the way things are so I have a feeling something big is coming (trade, FA signing, etc...). With some decent QB play we are much better than a 2-14 team. I was excited about Luck but all along but I was also keeping things in perspective, Luck could just as easily be the next David Carr, Alex Smith or Matt Leinart.

Keep the faith, the Panthers will rise again.

I'm usually pretty optimistic for the next season, but not this year. I believe the league is proven to be driven by QB play if you want to make noise or constantly good. We play in a division with strong young QB play. I think we can have winning seasons, but nothing sustainable like elite teams. My expectation temporarily got set high, it's going to take me time to accept mediocrity and more inconsistencies.

I'm actually feeling better about this off season than I have about previous off seasons.

Change is in the air. New coaching staff, #1 pick. An owner making promises to get our offense on par with some of the other successful offenses in the league. I'm anxious.

At this point I'm really concerned we are going to go into next season with a team that's great all around but absolutely no talent at the QB position.

Locker, Mallett, Gabbert, Newton.

None of them impress me much.

I don't see anybody worth picking up in Free Agency and there isn't a lot of options to go trade for.

I've got plenty of hope, but lot's of worry also.

To be honest, I never wanted Harbaugh. They can have him. There are too many other coaches and assistants in the NFL who I think will probably end up doing a better job. Harbaugh is hype---the flavor of the day.

Frisco ownership is not as smart as ours!

I am as excited as I have been lately. With 9 years of Fox, this franchise was becoming stagnant. A fresh start was in order. I am excited to see comments from management about a shift in philosophy, and that management is responsive to reality, and willing to adjust.

This team is on the verge of a new coaching staff, has the first choice in the draft, and is expected to compete in free agency. I am excited to see this franchise move past an antiquated philosophy and into a new direction.

And I am not worried about Andrew Luck. This franchise is greater than Andrew Luck.

We'll be alright. This might be a blessing in disguise. There's a very good possibility we either end up picking 1st again or can trade back into the pick and end up with Luck after all. And even if we don't, Matt Barkley is a much better QB than Gabbert/Newton/Locker/Mallet. Think Carson Palmer before his injury wrecked his career.

The fact is teams make their own luck. The Jets weren't terrible because Manning stayed in school, but other decisions. Ten years from now if this franchise is a laughingstock, that isn't going to be because Luck stayed in school, but because of decisions actually in the franchise's power, like the ones that will be made in the next few months.

    • TBH, these are the kind of players that get weeded out of professional sports pretty quickly. Also, CMC is not that guy. There is zero indication that he isn't competitive.
    • I like the free agency. It actually helps basically all schools across the board. Pretty much only ancient HC's and/or HC's that haven't been able to adjust have been complaining about the free agency. Your fortunes can be made or broken every offseason. It's not like before where a bad recruiting class or two meant multiyear purgatory.  I will never understand all the bellyaching about the NIL. If you want to talk about what ruined college athletics, it has been naked greed. Conference expansions for TV revenue, ever skyrocketing AD and facilities costs and now the attempts to permanently ruin the postseasons(football and basketball).  All the kids did was get a very well deserved piece of a very, very, VERY broken pie.
    • Nobody is saying they don't count against the cap, because yes, they technically do count against the cap as it's money the team is paying and it needs to be accounted for. But what you're not grasping it seems is that if a player gets $10 million guaranteed in their contract, whether they get literally $0 as a signing bonus or $8 million as a signing bonus, it doesn't change the overall cap hit of the contract, because cap hits are about the guaranteed money, not how much is paid up front. The only thing that how much is paid up front changes, is how the cap hit can be spread out amongst the years. So yes, technically there could end up being a slightly bigger cap hit in year 3 and 4 due to a bigger signing bonus, but if that is the case, it also means there will be a lesser cap hit in years 1 and 2 than there would have been with a smaller bonus.  But over the length of the contract, the size of the signing bonus has literally zero affect on the overall cap hit of the contract, because THAT part of it is 100% about the guaranteed money and nothing else.
