Chris Harris on Ron Rivera: "He's a great coach to play for. He treats all of his players like men while (still) demanding respect."

Do we have player comments? i'd like to see them

I remember seeing Gantt tweet this.

Here's Chargers S Eric Weddle, on Rivera, courtesy the SD Union-Tribune: “Ask any defensive player, we’re all definitely excited for him.

More Weddle: "We think he’s an unbelievable coach, an unbelievable human being, a guy who does things right."

More Weddle: Obviously, we’re going to miss him. From the day he stepped on the team he brought a standard to be great – not just to be good

"Rivera is a well-respected guy by all of us here in Chicago," Bears safety Chris Harris, also a former Panther, told The Charlotte Observer. "He's a guy who will demand respect. He's a great communicator. Wasn't a huge yeller, but he got the most out of all his players.

"He's a confident guy, I think he'd handle it well."

"Ron has a good way of communicating with people," former Bears coach Mike Ditka said Monday. "I really believe he will do a good job."

"How it is coaching now, you really need to relate to your players," Ditka said. "We just saw that with Pete Carroll, and he's the second-oldest coach in the league."

When Flores coached, there was great sense of pride in the Hispanic community that reached beyond Oakland and Los Angeles. He just sees Rivera, however, for having the qualities of an effective coach, regardless of race.

"He's a tough guy," Flores said Monday. "He teaches the game well and earned his right at the opportunity."

Good stuff.

Still sounds like John Fox to me

this couldn't be said of fox...

More Weddle: Obviously, we’re going to miss him. From the day he stepped on the team he brought a standard to be great – not just to be good
fox wanted his guys to be just good enough. that was his attitude on everything and that is why you get stuck with "it is what it is" mindest and answers. he was very apathetic and that apathy was contagious. the team just seemed to "settle" for a lot of stuff and went the safe route when ever possible.

rivera is a lot more agggressive and demanding of his players but still garners respect. fox got respected because he was a nice guy.

As I said before he was considered the #1 guy, he is good people, is well respected in the league, and works hard.

The fact that his race/ethnicity even comes up is mind numbing to me.

Wow.

Anyway, as I also said, you guys got the best that was available given the circumstances.

Most around here are lamenting the fact that Chico's first shot at this is coming in Carolina, where the cupboards look pretty bare.

That's just what is being said here, mind you.

Some people just don't understand football (sighs...)

Ron Rivera is the best candidate out there. His Bears defense was one of the best in the league (if not the best). His chargers defense was ranked #1 last season. But oh no.... he's hispanic so he must be terrible...

They were who they thought they were!
