The Pro Clausen Thread....

If we make the playoffs in 2011 that means we had to at least have decent QB play...and like us this year, no team will trade the rights to Luck. Oh, and yeah Barkley is considered an elite prospect, some think he is on the level of Luck.

That is why we must make the trade right now, try to dress it up a little and not just swap first round picks. (Since Carolina was so awful this year, maybe teams will think we will be a middle of the road team next year and get good drafting position.) It's a gamble, but the only thing we would actually lose is the chance to draft Luck. I strongly feel this should be the FO's thinking. Looking at Barkley's picture on Wikipedia and his size, he kind of remind me of someone.:D Yet I'll definitely look and see what Barkley does next season.

If he can't be picked up this year then why are we talking about him? I don't get it.

Because franchise QBs don't grow on trees. There are those who can be made into a franchise guy, and there are those who are already franchise guys coming in. Luck is a franchise guy coming in.

You mean Clausen didn't show ANY potential, what about the 4th down throw at NO? That's not a "flash" of potential, there were a few more good plays he made too, he also almost led us on a game winning drive in Cleveland, he was a good game manager at times when the run game was going. I agree, I know he didn't give us much reason to believe but until a new CBA gets done we won't have access to any FA's so he has to be the plan headed into 2011 whether you like it or not.

It's sad when you have to point to specific plays instead of whole games right? He didn't have 1 200 yd game. If we don't have access to any Free Agents I fully expect them to resign Moore and have them battle it out. All reports indicate that Clausen is nowhere near the talent Moore is.

Being honest, there isn't one guy around the league that if brought in, wouldn't beat out Clausen for the starting job.

Very true. Moore is very comfortable in the pocket, where Clausen is not and scrambles.

Moore got a raw deal as far as the starting gig goes. I wish Fox had a little more faith him. Moore has the tools to be good. He's got pretty good touch and timing. He needs to shore up his decision making skills. You could tell he was rattled in that first game.

Agreed. IMO, Moore has the ability and talent to develop into a good QB with the right tutelage. He has shown the ability to win at two different times and under-fire, and I don't buy the "it didn't count" arguments.

Hey folks, got here a bit late and am feeling too lazy to read all of this.

Can I please get the readers digest version? I am willing to give rep.

Thanka-San in advance...:D

Zod is trolling to get more hits to the site. He thinks anyone who watches football thinks Clausen should get another chance. He thinks if you've given up on Clausen you are an idiot.

People agree

People disagree

People are on the fence.

Add some racist comments and it seems like a catch-all description..

Rep delivered

That's really what it's been.

Early comments were in favor of Clausen because he's a rookie and coaching and scheme and you know.

Later comments were more negative.

Then we got into the vet argument.

Then Moore came up.

Then JaMarcus came up.

Back to Moore.

Then Summary

    • this     I never cease to be amazed at the number of people who will run up their blood pressure to get to the grocery store 30 seconds faster or are racing to get to work like it won’t be there at 8:02.   The only thing I’ve ever done that I think added more years to my life besides quitting smoking, was to learn to go with the flow behind the wheel.
    • The term you're looking for is "malinger(ed)", and he didn't.  I'm not sure why Panthers fans act like jaded ex girlfriends.  The dude is clearly injury prone as his time in San Fransico also proves. It's not like he got to San Fran and stopped having problems.
    • My long and rambling post:   The guy is all heart, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he came back even better next year. He’s exactly the guy you lock up. The money won’t ever change the way he plays.  It was a big fumble, but what 1,000 yard back fumbles once in an entire season?  Pride. This team is FINALLY seeing guys who obviously take the game very seriously. Hunt, Chuba, Thielen, Brown, Horn (CB), Coker, Bryce (IMHO). Bye bye, Spider-Man. I don’t see these dudes being OK with teammates half-assing practice or in games. I can see Brown and Horn coming over to talk to somebody.  Good team? Ummm, maybe, but will still likely lose more close games than they win unless this last draft turns in to LOB part 2. That’s a stretch.  Pretty good/decent team. Yes. They finished the season as a pretty good team. I know I sound like a broken record harping back to it, but going in to ATL and putting a 40 burger on them en route to an OT win. A bad Panthers team would have had their brakes beaten off. We’ve seen it.  Rose colored glasses on and bonging a 40 of hopium: There are watershed moments that occur that change the course of franchises, both good and bad. If Fox doesn’t pull Rodney at halftime, the epic journey that was 2003 never happens. On the negative side, Cam taking that one hit from Watt was the end of any and all Panthers relevancy and we’ve been the biggest losers in all of pro sports as a result. Watershed moments. LOB draft. Vinny goes down and the goat is born.  Will the ATL game be the spark that this franchise has desperately needed? Could it be that they hit the mega million jackpot with Princley and Scourton as eat QBs for breakfast? Sure would be nice having 2 all-pro edge guys on the cheap for the next 4 years.  A lot of unknowns, but at least it actually feels  fun again.
