Rivera "met w/ some of the players", but not Smitty?

Smitty is a captain of this team and probably the most frustrated guy in the locker room for a number of reasons. If Rivera was going to round up some guys for a sounding board why wouldnt smitty be in on the action?

The answer could be as simple as smitty was out of town and couldnt make it. Or, it could be a little more sinister and give us a glimpse into the direction this relationship may be heading; i.e. not caring too much about what smitty thinks, take it or leave it.

I would think a new coach would want to get all the big hitters in his corner if he is going to talk with players before a presser.

maybe could be looking into it a little too much?

Definitely looking too much into it. It would take a long time to meet with all the players and all of them aren't in Charlotte right now. Remember, Rivera had only been in Charlotte 24 hours (give or take an hour) before the pressor. Most of that time had been spent negotiating contract and chillin' with JR at dinner.

probably met some of the players that were at the facility? maybe???

thats what i am thinking. Probably got a quick tour; "here's the locker room, weight room, crate of wrigley's left from Fox, Otah's coach...". A few guys were around getting treatment, etc.. introduced himself and listened to thier complaints about last season.

I did like the fact that he mentioned meeting w/ smitty specifically, so i think things will be fine, just stirring the nest.

    • I was playing around with the ESPN playoff predictor and it shows if 49ers and Rams finish with same record, the Rams hold the tiebreaker.
    • This is my thinking as well. Seattle played as good as they could on defense and Panthers still had a chance until those back to back turnovers.  I don't think the Rams played particularly well in their game against us, alot things went our way in order to win.  Someone pointed out the Rams were bad on the east coast road games and Seattle has been the better road team but they just fought a hard contested game against the Panthers, and now they travel to San Fran this week for their biggest game of the season to determine the division and if they are the overall #1 seed in the NFC or will be traveling for the Wildcard weekend.  If they lose they then travel back cross the country to play a team they've just beaten two weeks ago, not saying they won't be favored against the Panthers but the energy of hosting our first playoff game in 10 years along with the get back effect of having just lost to this team could be huge.
    • I don’t know about shadowing and all that, but according to this, whatever we are doing is working
