Could Matt Moore still be our guy?

I don't expect Matt Moore back with the Panthers. He stunk it up in 2010, even though he showed more potential than Clausen. He will find a #2 job somewhere and I wouldn't be surprised to see him start a few games next year. Reminds me a lot of Rex Grossman.

edit: I'd say Matt Moore's game against the Rams is the best example of who he really is.

Moore had a bad week 1 game. It happens. I still don't see how people let 1 bad game define a player that had shown so much good/potential.

07- looked good

09 - looked good

10 - bad game week 1, got a concussion week 1, was benched week 2 coming off concussion.

Fox has been horrible in management of QBs. 2010 Fox mishandled the QB situation, mishandled it in 09, and mishandled it in 2007.

That's crazy. He had multiple games with 3 TDs and no picks and games with right around 300 yards and you pick the Rams game as "who he really is"?

I think this demonstrates the very short memory of our fanbase.

You can't get past that stupid little string of games two years ago when he had no pressure and every option available to him. He beat the Niners this season. The Niners.

St. Louis was a contender this year and would have been a nice win to put on his resume, but he came out and threw and INT on the opening drive and generally played like crap that game. He plays best when the pressure is off...exactly what you DON'T want in a QB.

So you are basing it off only two games this year instead of his career? Then you try and qualify it with what you deem pressure?

People like to poo on Moore because they like to judge. Moore was the best QB on the roster in 09-10, and I'm willing to bet he was better than Jake in 08. He was the only QB capable of doing anything last year. One thing I like about Moore is that he has a nack for 3rd down conversions. He really hasn't been given a fair shot. Most of the picks that people like to use against him, when you watch the tape are largely not his fault.

I'm not saying he didn't make some stupid decisions or that he did some bad things. It was obvious that he was shaken in the first game. But at the least guy shows leadership and takes command of the huddle unlike Jimmy. Matt's got a positive attitude and always tries to get better. He's good for the team and at the very least can be a very good back up. He's got all the tools to be good I just want to see if he can put it all together 1 more time. There isn't a QB in FA that's going to be that much better or have more upside than Moore. Unless we could land Hasselbeck. And coming off injury he can probably be had for a good price.

Yeah Moore has been in the league longer than Jimmy but Moore has also been exposed to some of the worst QB coaches in the league for 4 years. He faired pretty damn good his rookie year in 07. Had we not been cheated against Dallas we would have been playoff bound. 8-8 would have gotten us in.

I would just like to see how Moore, and even Clausen could develop with a new staff and perhaps a veteran to learn from.
