I have seen some compare Clausen to Aikman...

while your general post was correct you are wrong there.

Rodgers' first year as a starter (he had played in only like 2 games per year before that) he threw for 4000 yards and 28 tds.

you're right.. I'm watching the Steelers.. I meant to refer to Phil Simms, he said Aaron Rodgers looked like poo in his 1st year.. not his 1st season starting.. he would have been given the same poo Clausen is getting but was able to sit the bench and learn like most QBs need to..

QBs tend to have bad rookie seasons, everyone admits that. However, Clausen had 3 times as many INTs as TDs and couldn't reach 200 yards in any game. I agree he needs to sit and learn but comparing him to Aikman is idiotic.

what does that mean to me? absolutely nothing... that Clausen looked like a bad QB under a even worse coaching staff..

thanks for contributing nothing.. ;)

My post wasn't directed to you. But you pointing out "no one can base the rest of Clausen's career on this past year.. you're just a jackass making assumptions.." That is said of every rookie who enters the NFL

Thanks for contributing nothing :)

now that makes more sense and I agree Clausen could only have benefited from sitting :)

Lets see, Jimmy Johnson and Norv Turner vs John Fox and Davidson. Now you tell me which rookie had a better shot at learning anything and succeeding?

Check and mate.

Anyone ever notice that all the QB's considered to be the "most accurate" have the "best route runners" for WRs, and the "best route runners" always have an "accurate" QB? Also, rookie QB's on terrible teams are always busts, while rookie QB's coming into decent talent bases show potential?

It's a team game, perhaps the ultimate team game. Every position leans heavily on others, unlike any other major sport. One has to consider more than stats and wins when evaluating players.

You said Clausen can't be judged based on his rookie season. I said comparing him to Aikman is dumb. Considering Aikman wasn't mentioned in your post, it is physically impossible for my post to be a restatement of yours. Nice try tho.

Aikman was put in a better position than Clausen. How does that mean that Clausen should be compared to Aikman?

Brother I really feel we need to bring in a Vet and let Clausen sit for 2-3 years.
this idea has fail written all over it.

we sit him on the bench for 2-3 years hoping to see if he gets any better while we stick around the bottom of the NFCS and then give clausen another chance to show he sucks for another couple years and then we have to start finding our franchise QB all over again.

wow what a bad idea.

fix the QB problem NOW. don't sit around and wait for this clown to show he can or can't be the guy after a couple years.

oh....and clausen threw how many TDs compared to aikman's TDs? sucky comparison. keep on reaching.

I didn't read it right.. my bad

people dogging Clausen for something they should have expected, esp with our coaching staff is getting old though..

    • lol, that second part is quite literally one of the dumbest things ever. Having or not having guaranteed contracts has absolutely nothing to do with how much these billionaires have to pay.  Because there is a hard cap and a minimum cap spend requirement, and teams either use their cap or roll it over to use it all the next year, so the owners have to pay the same amount of money in the end no matter what. Having fully guaranteed contracts in the NFL would only hurt salary cap management, and thus would end up screwing over the team and its fan base when teams kiss on signings as they take up cap room that is needed to improve the roster. Look at the Browns with Watson, they gave him the fully guaranteed deal and all it’s doing is sucking up massive cap space now.  If they hadn’t done that, the owner would still be paying the same amount of money each year as that cap space would still be used elsewhere. If you want to argue for fully guaranteed contracts because the players deserve it, that’s an entirely different argument and a fair one to discuss.  But anyone against fully guaranteed deals isn’t doing it to argue for the billionaire owners.

    • Ryabkin could be the steal of the draft, he was a Top 10 pick heading into last season and had a rough year.  Lots of GMs passed on him because of that and his workouts. Pick has really high upside and Svech should be able to translate Rod tearing his arse a new one for making dumb plays since Svech has had several years of it.  🤣😂
