really old thread and stupid bump: sean McDermott FIRED from eagles

for whatever reason he didn't work out in philly, i could see him as a dc/lb coach. riveria has stated he plans to oversee the d so having guys like mcdermott & meeks to help him with gamplans will take some of the load off of him

99.9% sure eagles fans collectively thought McNabb was the worst QB in the league from the day he was drafted to the day he was released.

Maybe Voth's sources are more reliable than Gantt's? Lmao @ Gantt's "sources"

I like Voth, but I think his "source" for this one is his own ass.

As to Gantt, the same day as the press conference where they acted like they never heard of Harbaugh, Tim Kawakami reported he wasn't returning their calls. So either they changed their mind about pursuing him really quickly or they weren't telling the truth in the first place.

Which one is easier to believe?

Assuming Rivera and McDermott get along, this would be a perfect fit for McDermott....and the Panthers. They should be very compatable in defensive philosophy, both being heavily influenced by having worked under Jim Johnson in his aggressive, attacking schemes.

My guess is that some will view him as not being ready for the DC position when he took over Philly, so working under Rivera would provide him with the opportunity to once more work under one of the best defensive minds in the NFL, and re-establish himself as one of the top up and comers. And not having full control over the defense (if DC) could actually help him work on the areas in which he is deficient without the pressure of the entire defense on his shoulders.
