Don't get your hopes up on Matt Hasselbeck

RENTON, Wash. -- Seattle Seahawks coach Pete Carroll closed his first season with a wide-ranging news conference, saying re-signing quarterback Matt Hasselbeck was the Seahawks' "top priority" heading into the offseason.

Carroll spoke for nearly 40 minutes on Wednesday morning. He said that bringing Hasselbeck back for an 11th season with the Seahawks was vitally important to building on this year's NFC West title.

meh, I wan't too excited about him anyway, Volek is our best option. Let Clausen develop. See if we wind up with Luck is my motto

This is unless the deadskins cut McNabb then we have to sign him

GAHHHHH!!!!!1

volek is NO TEAM's best option.

in all honesty Id rather have rex grossman then Billy volek lol

Depending on Grossman's attitude, he might actually not be a terrible player to pick up. He's been around the league a while, and he's been a winner in this league, so he might could be the veteran presence we need.

That said, I was hoping Hasselbeck would've been that guy. Now my personal preference is Marc Bulger.

    • It's not common for a RB to recover from two ACL tears in the same knee. It's fairly rare. You are correct that it isn't the career ender that it used to be but there is also the fact that we appear to have largely moved on with the additions of Dowdle and Etienne.  Dobbins is a very good example. He has basically missed 54% of his career regular season games since he came into the league in 2020. It will end up being 57% at the conclusion of this season. It's a big contributing factor to why he is on this third NFL team in 6 years. It's certainly possible that may be 4 by the beginning of next season. I would say there is very little chance that Brooks ever contributes in any meaningful way in Carolina. Possibly with another team but I am extremely skeptical of his future here because of those injuries and because of the roster.
    • Dude he didnt play in pre season.....  he didnt practice at all with the team until the end of October.    I do agree though.
    • Bryce had a hand in the Miami win but not nearly as large of one as Rico and he also had the extra burden of being a big reason we were in the hole in the first place. If we get a winning season he is definitely back for next year though.
