Why do childrens cereals involve so much theivery?

I remember a great deal of cereal commercials as a child.

The Trix rabbit is always stealing cereals from the kids. The kids then steal it back since their daddy and their daddy's daddy hated rabbits so no damn rabbit is getting their Trix.

The Luck Charms guy is always being pursued by the kids who want to steal his cereal too. He gets away though.

That was really frustrating. I always wanted to see a commercial where the Trix rabbit got the trix, and a commercial where the kids finally outwitted the leprechaun and got the lucky charms.

I remember that terrible cereal Cookie Crisp had these criminals always stealing the cookie crisps and usually succeeding. Terrible message sent to children.

Are there more I'm missing? Why all the thievery?

I remember many years ago during the presidential elections that you could vote on whether or not the Rabitt got the Trix. I want to say, that he got 1 box. But not sure.

You would think that so me parental group would step in and put a stop to the theivery. Like they did to seeing the Coyote going "SLAT!"

Its because General Mills is stealing your money. Thievery is all they know. So, naturally, their commercials will reflect that.

I think Corn Pops had a commercial where the kids always took the dads Pops.

I want to say Cap 'N' Crunch had one with thievery in it. Not sure though.

Either way, they're lame. I wish all cereal commercials were more like Tony The Tiger and Frosted Flakes. "They're G-R-R-R-REAT!" Short, sweet, to the point. Just think about this for a second. The next Fruit Loops commercial, "Eat 'em!" 2 second ad. Then, we get to go back to our TV show rather than suffering through a 20-30 second ad for tampons.

    • And that makes you right.
    • Mel Kiper said he would retire if Jimmy Clausen wasn't a successful NFL starter too. Just because the experts make a claim doesnt mean it's true either.  Bryce may be a serviceable QB for someone. Serviceable QBs don't bring you a perennial winner or lead you to the playoffs over and over. Serviceable QBs also dont get 50m plus per year deals which is what a Bryce extension would look like.  The stats show he hasn't been even a serviceable QB in the 3 years he's been here. The eye test shows he hasn't put together 2 franchise QB salary games back to back in 3 years.  Complain all you want about people being negative, but people pointing out that Bryce is held to a different standard than anyone else on the team isn't complaining. It's stating the obvious.
    • We have big bodied WRs and 3 TEs who all have potential and each bring something different to the table. I never saw the need to go out there and try and find a new starting TE.  While it's nice to have a guy like McBride, Bowers, etc, I think a team's better use of the cap is by having TEs on rookie contracts or cheap vets, not having to pay elite TE money.
