Clausen getting back to work

Clausen tweeted the following today:

Charlotte bound less than 24 hrs...time to start grinding!!

Steve Reed replied and asked him if he was "meeting with new coach" to which he responded "yessir".

Glad to see Jimmy coming back to work early, this gives the new coaching staff a chance to evaluate him before heading into the draft/free agency.

QB evaluation from the guy who is touting TJ Yates as a decent QB....laughable.

Excuse me but please find the post where I said "TJ Yates is going to be a good NFL QB". I'm pretty sure I never said that. The "Thank You TJ!" above my avatar is just me being greatful for everything he did at UNC. He broke most of our passing records and was a great person on and off the field. Excuse me for being a fan and supporting one of the best QB's in UNC history.

Assumed from your avatar.....my apologies.

Clausen is going to do whatever it takes to become a decent NFL QB. He's more than got the passion and work ethic.

The big question is, can he become the leader he needs to be to be good or great?

Now, as much as we disagree on Clausen....i agree. I don't question his work ethic or passion for football. He is an overachiever imo.

my only question is if he has reached a level where simply working hard and wanting it aren't enough to overcome what he lacks in just raw talent and intangibles.

I know Clausen will be at Notre Dame all semester. I hope whoever he works w/ and wherever it is....it doesn't involve the people from his past.

    • It appears that he sees things differently than the QB and OC, so Cam's advice is spot on. It isn't about number of targets, it's about quality of targets. Trust and being on the same page. BY doesn't know how to anticipate what XL is doing. And XL doesn't like where BY is placing passes. One on one film study would go a long way. More for BY than XL though. He has to adjust to XL. I really don't think XL can adjust on the fly.
    • If the team shows improvement, then he shouldn't be in danger of losing his job - even if the record doesn't reflect. This was a very young team (with a lot of new vet starters) that overperformed last season. Somebody's doing something right. Consistency is key with so much youth. And we're potentially looking at new starters at ILB and FS. Those are positions that take time to fully understand the defense. ILB calls the front 7. Safety calls the back 4. Injuries at WR and IOL killed the offense last season. Depth needs to be upgraded. Same with Edge. I think they would have won more games if Pat Jones doesn't go down early. Be smart with the roster and draft. Trade players for assets when it's time to pay them more than they're worth - yes, that includes BY if he doesn't make a pretty big jump. That's one of the many reasons Tillis is as important as anyone to the future of this team.
    • He had heart surgery a while back he looks Fraile I hope he is okay
