One thing i think A.J. Green fans don't realize

I would hate to pass on a guy like Fairley only to find that free agents like Cofield get resigned or go elsewhere. If the draft happens first we will take a DT in the draft whether it is 1 or down the line. I hope they pick up a TE in free agency too. Should be interesting to see what happens with the draft if free agency is delayed. With the desire to build the offense and get better soon, we need to not waste picks on more projects at positions of need but need rookies who can come in and play right away. That would seem to suggest Fairley, Green or Peterson who could all contribute this season instead of 2 or 3 down the road.

lol Cofield can play nose tackle and is an anchor for the Giants front four (why the hell wouldn't you want a piece of that more than somebody who dominated for only one year in college and only plays one technique), which we'd need much more than a UT. What i mean is I'd rather have Cofield/Landri starting at DT than Fairley/Ed Johnson

first of all our receivers weren't that good last year, second of all AJ Green is a rare talent at WR and the best prospect since Calvin Johnson, third of all Nick Fairleys show up in the draft almost every single year

I don't agree at all with your claim that we need a NT more than a UT, but what's stopping us from signing Cofield and drafting Fairley? You offered two different starting groups of DT's as if those are our only two options. Also, why is it relevant that Fairley "only plays one technique?" We only need him to play one.

In regards to the WR's...I'm going to assume that you're not being serious in actually passing judgment on our WR's based on the hilariously abysmal offensive system they played in and the farce of a QB they had throwing them the ball.

if only I could draw you diagrams, it would make a lot more sense to you...

Preparing for life after Steve Smith needs to begin now instead of later. Hurney has mentioned that he never went after the Boldins or even discussed trading for a Vincent Jackson..bc after age 28 he feels they have already played their best football at those positions. rbs and Wrs age faster than any position..go young on offense!!

examples.

Sean Alexander MVP 2yrs later out of the league.

Tim Brown..pro bowl..two yrs later out of the league.

Steve Smith like other Wrs will not gradually decline he will fall off the face of the earth and no one will trade for him..or he will not be able to command the double team.

Although I really like both Gettis and LaFell, who will be the better of the two when all is said and done IMO neither can be envisioned as a Top 10 player at his position.

AJ Green, sure has not played a down, but should be a top 10 threat sooner than later at WR. If we keep Smitty we will have a nice problem.

The thing those who criticize the AJ Green supporters are not seeing is that there is a desire for a major impact player at a skill position.

Addressing DT in free agency is a better bet bc there are just as many DT DE busts in the top 5 as QBs if not more.

DT is considered one of the harder positions to make an Impact from day 1 out of college. Look at the early 2000s Browns. Veteran DTs last longer and translate easier from 1 system to another.

Name 3 Free Agent Wrs that changed teams that flourished in the new system past one season? hmmm Brandon Stokely? really..

I agree get an impact TE in here...but will AJ Green not help things either?

WR Smitty( here awesome...gone, we thank you for being the best player eva!)

WR AJ Green

WR 3,4 Gettis/Lafell

TE Mercedes Lewis/Barnidge/Rosario

Qb Orton or Volek for 2 years grooming a young QB or Claussen...Pike released.

Of course with all this said I think you go Patrick Peterson..Revis and Devin Hester in one man!! would you not trade a no.1 pick for that?!

I feel we do neither and will question the front office...or will we?

the thing is with 2 wide receivers that can command double coverage what happens then is you can send Lafell or Gettis in the slot to catch passes, then you can have a TE that will be catching passes over the middle, and also the threat of 1 very good back (2 if DeAngelo returns) and 1 good back (Goodson), Top it off with an offensive line that can pass block and give the QB time, and someone who knows what plays to call, and we're good to go.

our passing game's been anemic for years. our offense has more to gain if we draft green than the defense does by drafting fairley

You just do not get it...we need a TE only!

Oh wait you do!

For those that seemed to have completely missed the point of the opening post:

WR and QB were last year's offensive needs.

Now it's TE and QB. QB will most likely be addressed through free agency, leaving TE. The team drafted three WRs last year. Two of them performed quite well given the circumstances while the other from everything I've read/heard basically got kicked to the side until the coming season.

Smith(?), Gettis, LaFell, Edwards, Wright (he's going to be here next year folks)

vs.

King(?), Rosario(?), Barnidge

(?) = uncertain to be back

If somebody wants to make this about the #1 overall pick, we can go that route as well!

Smith(?), Gettis, LaFell, Edwards, Wright

vs.

Landri(?), Irvin, Neblett, Taylor

When you're done swallowing back down the vomit the appeared in your mouth from reading what is going on in the DT position, make sure you set your DVR for the Senior Bowl and the Combine and get ready to see if AJ Green really should be taken #1 overall with what everything else that is missing from the roster.

And before anybody tries to jump the gun, I made NO mention of Fairley. CB is another position of interest as well. I'm part of the "waiting for more information" crowd ^.^

what if we drafted Green and signed Cofield?

then this wall of text is then even more useless..

ahhh! so this is what it looks like to see someone else who has a clue...

oh, btw, by posting this, everyone should assume DT was totally ignored and will never be addressed... just want to cement that in your minds...
