Panthers go No.1: P.P.

Read the recap for the game. Most of the offense came at the end of the game and we don't know if Peterson was the one covering him or not. not to mention Green had an excessive celebration call WITH THE GAME ON THE LINE which ended up giving LSU really good field position to win it.

anywho, I like peterson because he's got the size, the speed, the instincts and balls skills to play the position at a high level. Add in to the fact that Rivera is part of our organization and the level at which his corners have typically excelled.. You gotta go with Peterson as the safe pick.

I love the potential that PP would bring to our back 4. Guy has been sick in this season. However if we do take PP #1, Rivera and the Wrecking Crew better address the DT position through FA. Our durrent DT situation allows us to get NO pressure on the QB and it would not matter who we had in the back 4....they would continuously get toasted.

I think a DT FA is almost certain on top of any draft picks we may select on the D-line. I'm still on the Ellis/Fua/Powe train in the 3rd or 4th, even more so if we pick Green or Peterson (which imo makes the most sense)

I like the idea of coverage generating sacks but I don't see the pick as likely. You want balance on D and the line sucks inside and on the right end. When I look around the league there aren't of a huge number of teams who aren't fielding a bum at the #2 receiver spot, and have qb to get the ball to him.

Passing on Bowers/Fairley or Green so we can have Gamble or PP covering Sammie Stroughter and Mike Jenkins seems like a waste when they could just resign Marshall to do it.

I still say we should take a look at Asomugha. I know, I know, he is going to want a huge contract. Well, I say it would be worth giving him that contract if we could bring him in and draft Fairley. Sign him long-term so it wouldn't be such a cap hit (give him a 7 year deal or longer, if possible.) Hey, we gave Jake Delhomme a 40 million deal after a sad performance in the playoffs. (And an average year at QB with a great receiver) The least we can do is give a big contract to a player that deserves it.

First we resign our key guys, then we look at Aso and offer him a deal. If he bites, good. If he doesn't, we'll do something else.

be much smarter to bring in a FA DT (or 2) and draft Peterson...

If Haloti Ngata fell through, I would definitely go after him and draft Peterson. It would be great to have a solid pass rush coming from the middle, and Fairley has that potential about him. If Greg Hardy shows he's ready to start, we would have three guys capable of producing pressure. (Hardy, Fairley, and Johnson) Of course if Ngata became available, I would love to draft Peterson.

    • Very True--and I am a former HS English teacher.
    • Not a Moore fan-but he had a few good games last year-but I want players that scare you--Renfrow's route running and intelligence, Legette's size, speed, and strength, AT's intelligence and route running, Coker's body control, strong hands, and abilty to win contested catches, and TMac's size, body control, and ability to find soft spots in zone coverages.  Horn gives them the ability to stretch the field and he plays special teams.   Moore has a nice smile and can dance.  He filled in well last season, but to get better as a team, you have to upgrade your players.  I think Moore is a bottom of the roster guy who got bumped when we drafted 2 WRs and signed a legit free agent.  Here is the thing--TMac makes us better because he is great against the zone--man?  Good luck with that.  AT's role can be reduced, and that is probably a good thing.  He can specialize in situational football. Coker?  Just getting started. XL?  Just getting started.  Drafting TMac was probably a bit of a wake up call, but XL will be better as the 2. Renfrow?  I see him splitting reps with AT--keeping both fresh and giving different looks. Horn?  Watch the safety cheat his side when he is in the game--I see a young Steve Smith type in him, but he has yet to play a game.  I hear that Morgan loves him.
