Panthers lead story on ESPN first take

Agreed. With QB as a biggest question mark, all discussions will and should end up here! It's hard for any of us to have faith in teh Jimmy after this horrible excuse for a season...but the fact remains, we still don't know about him. I do like the fact that before his surgery he came back to Charlotte to work on his game, and I presume he met up with some of the new staff. I'm on the wagon that says Jimmy showed ZERO ability to lead our offense and he showed no promise or special play ability...but I also have hated Fox's ability to groom young offensive talent as well. I'm really on the fence here, with my heart fully hoping Jimmy pans out to be great but deep down I'm also just hoping he really isn't a terrible as his showing was last year. Realistically, how many mid 2nd round QB's come in and start early and eat the world? (like my Jimmy eat world reference?)

how does it make sense for a team that had the worst offense by far in the league and one of the worst offenses ever ignore the offense with the first pick overall?

IMO Rayor, it wouldn't. If Luck had declared, this wouldn't even be a discussion. The problem this year, as everyone knows, is there is no offensive player worthy of a top 5 pick this year, let alone the #1 overall. Of course, all of this could change after the combine and individual workout. However, I suspect if none of the prospects pulls ahead of the pack, considering our new coaching staff, I wouldn't be suprised to see us go defense in the 1st round (whether we trade down or stay put).

If there were a top flight QB in the draft, I would agree with you.

But, Green WILL NOT make that much difference next season.

yeah, because we KNOW that smith isn't going to get hurt and miss games AGAIN and that neither gettis nor lafell is going to pull a keary colbert and drop off the face of the planet statisically after their rookie year.

yeah, we don't have to worry about offense, it's fine GUARANTEED.

:skep: They certainly didn't PLAY like it. The injuries we sustained there this past season translated to the OL play well below average for the most part.

O-line was just fine

Summary

Our OLine actually blocked pretty well down the stretch for Jimmy and they were not the reason the sacks kept racking up.

    • Theilen came back and Bryce had him. Which he was lost for Andy after the first game, or am I wrong on that?    And people are so overrating most of those Bryce games. There were a couple of good ones and a very good one. Of his basically two complete very good games. That Atlanta game in that stretch and the Dallas game this year being the complete ones. Maybe I missed one but the 2023 Green Bay game was really a very good 4th quarter and a average 1st half. Maybe I missed another but that NYG Europe game was nothing to brag about yet people did. Just sayin.  I mean you can name his really nice games on one hand. Out of how many now? 33? 34? Something like that.
    • So, the goal that should not have been a goal.... https://www.nhl.com/news/carolina-hurricanes-colorado-avalanche-coach-challenge-x1595 Challenge Initiated By: Carolina Type of Challenge: Missed Game Stoppage Event – High-Sticking the Puck Result: Original call confirmed – Goal Colorado Explanation: The Situation Room supported the Referee’s call on the ice that Parker Kelly’s stick was not above the normal height of his shoulders when he contacted the puck at 15:31 of the second period (4:29 elapsed time) – 17 seconds prior to his goal. The decision was made in accordance with Rule 80.1. Penalty: 2:00 minor penalty: Delay of Game – Unsuccessful Challenge ------------------------------------------------------------ How the challenge was interpreted as a high stick challenge is beyond me. What I cannot find is what/how RBA challenged the goal and how it was reviewed as a high stick goal when Stevie Wonder could see the hand extending off Kelly's stick, essentially grabbing at the puck and it went by Freddie.
    • And the QB's below him are; Bo Nix, CJ Stroud, Spencer Rattler, Michael Penix Jr., Cam Ward, Carson Wentz, Dillon Gabriel, Geno Smith and Tua Tagovaila
