Jake Delhomme to be released...again.

In the first half I would take Beuerlein over Delhomme any day of the week. But in the second, I want Jake. And on balance, I do think he's the better of the two. Beuerlein put up better numbers in his WCO, and he had that amazing season where he passed for a zillion yards, but Jake won more and won bigger.

Frankly, the best QB Carolina ever had was probably Kerry Collins. But Delhomme did the most for the franchise, and I don't even understand how anyone can debate that.

How are you defining best that you think Collins fits that description?

wrong, that's 1447 pass attempts in 44 games

Delhomme's pass attempts were 1417 in 48 games.

Jake only threw a handful less per game on average.

He has nearly identical YPA, identical TDs, and fewer INTs.

overall they were very similar in terms of stats over the same time period with the team... the difference? Jake won and stayed around longer.

Body of work, I guess.

Honestly, I like Jake. :)

Collins may have had the best career of any quarterback the Panthers have had on their roster, but he wasn't the best QB. It is funny sometimes, because he is probably one of the longest-lasting players from his draft class... too bad he didn't really work out here.

I like Jake too. Think he's our best yet, but I hope that doesn't stand for too long. He'll always be a fond memory even if I don't consider him our best QB

I said exactly this in an earlier reply pretty much.

We just said the same thing? Wow Beuerlein had 1 more full games worth of attempts than Delhomme. They really did throw it way more times than what they did with Jake. Btw, its 47 games for Jake.

the difference is Steve did it with a lesser team (that's including coaches)

in three less games. The average isn't that much, about three more passes per game. But Beuerlein played in a completely different offense with a WCO than Jake did. Jake never played a year where they passed more than they ran. Every year Beuerlein played for Carolina they passed more than they ran.
