Scott Morrow deserves better (and so does the team)

I didn’t realize Ghost was a 3 year contract.  He's relatively cheap and has his moments but it feels like we could find a better player.

He's that offensive d man we love to grab to pair with a more defensive partner. If that's the mold we're gonna go after, fug it, keep him. He does well enough IMO. If we're looking for Slavin light, then be sure to find that or we just have a massive hole to fill on top of the others

Got 35m in cap space and really the only true needs are a 2nd line center, 3rd pair defender and a goal scoring wing with size.

Goalie is gonna rear it's head sooner or later. If an option presents itself, it would be hard not to jump on it.

Kochetkov doesn't seem like he will end up being more than a backup.

I was going to put goalie but I don't think they will go that direction since Freddie has been resigned.

Strongly disagree with this. Not saying Kucci will be a playoff caliber starter. But, if you look at the guys who are playoff starters and those with recent playoff success, he is matching their trajectories to a tee. Once other teams get enough tape/experience and start to gameplan against, there is an adjustment period.

Pyotr has all of the skills to be a Vezina level tendy. What matters is how he evolves from here. The league knows his tendencies and have learned how to exploit him. Can he continue to mature and improve, or will he settle in for a long lucrative career on the bench?

Next season will be a turning point for Kucci, one way or another. Hopefully, he proves me right and we have our goalie for the next decade. Lord knows the rest of our goalie pipeline looked like garbage when they got thrown in the fire this season.

TBH, he is too much of a nutcase to ever be able to be consistent, IMO. It's his greatest strength and his greatest weakness.

Fair.

If he can learn when to let the crazy out and when to lock it away, he could be unstoppable... lmao

Only time will tell.

    • Sound write-up MHS, as always.  Agree that the smart move that forward thinking franchises make would be drafting a tackle early, if not for sure in R1, depending on who's there. Based on early predictions we're choosing between Fano and Proctor. No brainer here...Fano all day. Proctor does not move the needle for me. In my mind, Icky has less future here than Brooks does. I love Icky, but he has been average as a top-10 pick, one good year where you saw the potential...and that was this year. He's built like a RT and his strengths are there, but he's always played left. I also feel like part of what has held him back from being elite, was his work ethic. He was known for it coming out, but feel like he fell right at home in Carolina and maybe didn't push himself as hard as he needed to. Throw in a major crucial injury that will take time to recover and a historical low return rate to current form, and the outlook is not great. Fano can play both sides and we need to also plan for Moton's departure. Either way, delaying drafting a tackle early this year will hurt us down the line. Our current OL is overpriced and needs to start adding draftees to start balancing out the inevitable changes coming in the next 2-3 years.  As others have said, maybe Icky can replace Hunt or Lewis in a couple years when he's fully recovered....IDK. Also not a guarantee, but then you have to figure out his contract and it becomes even more clouded.
    • It's past time to just eliminate it in terms of an event. Just do the voting, name the roster, and move on. When you get down to 6th and 7th alternates it's just absurd. It doesn't mean anything.
