2023

  • X: DJ Chark, Terrace Marshall Jr, Mike Strachan
  • Z: Jonathan Mingo, Laviska Shenault Jr
  • Slot: Adam Thielen, Ihmir Smith-Marsette
  • PS: Dezmon Patten, Derek Wright

2025

  • X: Tetairoa McMillan, David Moore
  • Z: Xavier Legette, Jalen Coker
  • Slot: Adam Thielen, Hunter Renfrow, Jimmy Horn Jr
  • PS: Brycen Tremayne, Jacolby George [projected]

What an insane difference in talent... I never want to go back to that dark place ever again. 😭

Disgusting to look at that 2023 roster. Nobody could have succeeded here with that + Reich’s archaic offense. Amazing we even won 2 tbh

We aren't making you defend him lol

I just view him in a different tier than you do, I feel.  He ain't that guy.

You would have preferred us keep him and stay on the trajectory we were on?  It was a necessary evil in the situation.  We are better today.  (on paper)

There is a legitimate chance he has a big season under their new coach. I would be hesitant to make any firm declarations either way at this point.

There are so many variables that go into a possible scenario where we don't trade Moore. But to be clear. By definition we are not better after surrendering a haul of resources in that trade. We just fielded the worst defense in decades. And we had the 32nd passing offense in 2023 and the 30th passing offense last year. We made a flurry of moves we hope will stem the tide for the time being and we have many young players with promise. But our season and the trajectory of our franchse still very much hinges on Bryce Young taking multiple steps forward this season.

Then throw in a rookie QB to the behind an OL that was down to it's 6th + 7th starting LG + RG... What a rough, rough season.

Can only imagine how rough that is on a locker room when there's obvious lines drawn between the staff as well. It's been painful having Tepper learn on the job. The reward? It seems like now there's a staff that's in alignment, an ascending offense stocked with youth behind a burly OL, and a defense that's getting a much needed injection of talent in the trenches.

Not all is perfect in paradise quite yet. The LB and DB rooms both have depth concerns while that aforementioned young offense needs to show growth and development.

I mean at the end of the day it didn’t have to be that dire. Nobody put a gun to our head and forced us to trade DJ Moore.

Should have parted with Burns then.... never understood how you can draft a QB and trade away your best weapon to do it....

It's bonkers to even read it in print right? But that's David Tepper's Panthers!

I think we should bump some 2023 threads from this time of the year, right before preseason started.   People LOVED that 2023 team.  That was probably the highest the huddle has been post Cam.  Now in hindsight.....people rightfully trash it.

No one is getting hyped enough to warrant being brought down by that lol.

I'm cautiously apathetic..

I feel better going into this season than I did in 2021, 2022, 2023 or 2024.   And I'm largely deemed a pessimistic poster.  So there is that for anyone keeping score.

Oh we know what we'll find. Many people from fans and those in the media agreed that it was a solid situation for a rookie QB to be going into at the least. Certainly it was regarded to be more desirable than the situation CJ Stroud was supposedly being drafted into. The revisionist history on that now is the same as it is for all the talk before the draft that Bryce Young was the most pro ready QB in years and would work his magic on the NFL field even if he didn’t have the best talent around him because he was that good and indisputably the best QB in the class.

Oh I know you are lol.

Roster wise/culture wise and coaching this is definitely the best I've felt since the Ron/Cam/Luke era ended....

My caveat is that a winning season isn't needed for me to consider this season a success, if the team is competitive and continues to make progress offensively and at a minimum the run defense improves dramatically I'll be happy so long as they are competitive. I'm cautiously apathetic lol I see this year being anywhere from 6 to 10 wins....

I'll consider even 6 to be a sucess as it's an improvement, I honestly expect 7-8 wins and if everything goes well I could see 10 or 11.

I think this year's ultimate sucess or failure will be dependent on the offensive/defensive lines staying healthy.

If the oline can knocks on wood have a whole year of continuity with no major injuries i think they can dramatically exceed most expert expectations.

    • I'm not sure that in a fair QB competition that Young would beat out Jones.
    • That's why I said stats aside. I lived in CO during Allen's college career and didn't have kids at the time so I watched most of his games. Bruh, I'm telling you. Balls just spraying all over the place. The type of throws where you're honestly trying to figure out who he was even trying to throw that one too. It was crazy. Richardson was inaccurate in college but at least you could tell who he was trying to throw it too. He threw a lot of early in the game Cam Newton type balls where it seemed like he was just a little too amped up and everything was a few feet high. Richardson's misses looked like they were maybe fixable with working on his footwork, release, etc. Josh Allen's misses looked like "ain't no way you're fixin' that poo, dude has a cannon equipped with no sights". LOL Huge props to the Bills for evaluating him as fixable and indeed fixing him.
    • A lot can change over the next week, but here is my best 53-man roster (note: I'm just basing this on guys on the 90 man roster currently). Obviously there could be trades/ waiver claims/ FA signings.   Offense (25) QB (2): Bryce Young, Andy Dalton RB (3): Chuba Hubbard, Rico Dowdle, Trevor Etienne TE (4): Tommy Tremble, JT Sanders, Mitchell Evans, James Mitchell WR (7): Tetoria McMillan, Xavier Legette, Adam Theilen, Jalen Coker, Hunter Renfrow, Jimmy Horn, Brycen Tremayne  OL (9): Ikem Ekwonu, Damien Lewis, Austin Corbett, Robert Hunt, Taylor Moton, Cade Mays, Chandler Zavala, Brady Christensen, Yosh Nijman    Defense (25) DL (6): Derrick Brown, Bobby Brown, Ashawn Robinson, Tershawn Wharton, Sam Roberts, Cam Jackson OLB (5): DJ Wonnum, Pat Jones, Nic Scourton, Princely Umanmielen, Thomas Incoom  ILB (5): Trevin Wallace, Christian Rozeboom, Krys Barnes, Jon Rattigen, Claudin Cherelus S (4): Trevon Moehrig, Demani Richardson, Lathan Ransom, Nick Scott  CB (5): Jaycee Horn, Mike Jackson, Chau Smith-Wade, Corey Thornton, Shemar Bartholomew    ST (3): LS: JJ Jansen  P: Sam Martin  K: Matthew Wright    Would like to hear everyone's thoughts
