Need at least 3 RBs. Hubbard/Brooks/Etienne has a lot of potential. Dowdle will be gone. He’ll either play well and price himself out of our range or not and we wouldn’t want to resign.

He has to get healthy and stay healthy for there to be potential. If I'm being honest even when he finishes rehab and begins gradually getting onto the field again we're all going to be holding our collective breath. If we're thinking it then it also has to have some level of effect on Brooks himself too. It's a tough situation for an athlete.

Dowdle could be one and done or he could stick around. It all depends on what transpires. He was a one thousand yard back last year so I would not write him off as already out the door just yet.

He was consensus RB1. We were able to draft him in the mid 2nd bc of his injury. Without it, we would have never had the chance in that spot. Call it whatever you like.

Thats true but it also ignores the fact that the "market" said the number 1 RB wasnt worth going before that given the injury. We only have strong rumor that Dallas would take him. The end result is a guy who will only play half of his rookie contract. So even if he turns out good, we won't be able to monetize that. In other words you are putting yourself in a position where instead of a home run you have to hit a grandslam for the gamble to payoff. Bad odds. All im saying. Bad odds.

Good question. He looked good in the extremely limited looks he’s had in a Panthers uniform. My hope is he becomes a knockoff J Gibbs in relief of Hubbard.

My realistic thought is he’ll be a threat in the passing game over the next two years and then, if he is an asset, take a reasonable deal on a second contract due to his limited play and extensive injury history.

He'll only take a reasonable deal if there is no market, which, again, is a sign it wasnt the best move.
