Joe Burrow just logged more reps tonight plus some than Bryce Young will see this entire preseason.

Burrow wanted to stay out there because he wasn’t happy with the offense execution per the commentators which seemed to end on a positive TD

Looks like Hurts, Penix, Mahomes, Goff, Tua, Love (might be hurt), Dak, Lamar, Rodgers, Baker, Murray, Nix, and Allen logged zero snaps this week. So once again every team appears to be using preseason how they see fit.

That’s largely a list of pro bowl, playoff, etc QBs though…..and them random Penix.

I still think our prep of a very young and to date overall a struggling QB is a perplexing approach

You were comparing it to Joe Burrow who is also on a different tier. It’s basically half the league give or take. I think Daniels threw 0 passes just had one carry for a 12 yard TD. Stafford didn’t play but I think he is hurt too. Here is a good one, JJ McCarthy didn’t play this week and only had one series last week. Does O’Connell not know what he is doing with his QB?

Maybe most of the good coaches with good QBs prefer using their starters in joint practices? Or maybe it’s just random with no rules/expectations.

Vikings went 14-3 last season.  I think there are basically 3 groups I slot things into.

Good QBs (Pro Bowl, Playoff caliber who you can sit to protect).  But those QBs often fight the coach.

Good overall teams (playoff teams -who you can protect your starting lineup because it’s the big picture machine and everyone do g their part that gets you there)

then there are bad teams with questionable QBs….I think not repping these teams is dumb.  We fall in this tier.  Falcons would be a great example of a team not repping their QB.  But it’s also an example of a bad team.  Questionable everything.   And a team probably doing a lot wrong.

But most bad teams, Bengals aside, are playing their QBs and the good ones are using joint practice. Canales also did play his starters 2 series, they just didn’t do much. Also the Vikings may have had a great record but their QB has 0 regular season snaps. Why not get him these reps if they are so important?

It kind of looks like it’s going to be spun a certain way no matter what. Falcons, they are just poorly run, good teams are good so they also get a pass. Pro Bowl QBs don’t need the reps, young questionable QBs don’t need the reps if their team is good. I think it’s just was easier to say every franchise is going to use the whole preseason/joint practices how they see fit. If you are someone who takes preseason real serious then it’s probably going to be hard to satisfy exactly what you are wanting them to do here. Personally I’d like another series or two from our starters but I’m not really concerned about it either way.

I think if you lined up every starting QB this season and last season and.....BY is going be one of the lightest repped starting QBs entering the season, both seasons.  Which sort of weeds out all the quirks and presents the overall gist of things...which just makes him lightly repped vs the field.

I mean, I'm betting on the Jags week 1 to win that game.  The starters have gone 3 and out 75% of the time and the one time they didn't was vs backups.   BY only has legit chemistry with old man AT.   Heck, no one else seeing the field can even run reliable routes the best we can tell yet.  Especially in a game setting where things get hectic.

I just disagree w/ how Carolina views itself and have since year 2 of Matt Rhule going into seasons.  Every preseason we seem to make some pretty head scratching management given what we are

Don't have to agree w/ me.  I said before the preseason started up what I wanted to see out of this team.  I've been pretty consistent since red flags went up year 2 of Matt Rhule.  The preseason redflag questions each year have really translated into the season each year.   So...I'm just siding w/ the way things have been continuing vs going off the this will be different mindset.
