Well let's be honest here. The Jets was probably the absolute worst place for Fields to go and try and resurrect his career. Sure they have solid offensive players but that place is known for being QB Purgatory. Same with us and the Raiders.

The issue is that being slow or unable to read the field is the toughest of all hills to climb in the NFL for a QB. There is an overflowing graveyard of former QB's you have to climb over to get to the very few success stories in that realm.

It is not impossible for him to figure it out but it is HIGHLY improbable that he will. The odds there are so incredibly low.

TBD on if we have the GM or HC now.  I’m pretty doubtful on HC but I have to give Dan some props for this past offseason.  It wasn’t perfect but the supporting cast is definitely improved.  The early draft picks look much better.  Jury’s still out.

I will never understand how anyone(like yesterday) could make any logical argument Bryce isn't better than Fields. That guy cannot read a defense at all.

And don't let people mistake this for some pro-Bryce rant. Bryce is also not a starting caliber NFL QB. But good God does Justin Fields keep getting chances for literally zero reason.

I never understood the fields love i got attacked when I explained to people how terrible he has been.  I dont even understand how nfl gms can be fooled into giving him another shot.  Young is better than fields in the horrible qb compeittion but fields is a way more athletic qb just has 0 field awareness at all.  maybe someone could make him read one wr and run if he isnt open and may could do better than he is doing.

I suspect the owners might come into play. And pressure.

    • You've got to constantly invest in the OL. The mantra pay tackles, draft guards/centers is true for a reason. Every 2 years we should be investing a round 2 or 3 pick in a starting guard unless we hit an all pro guy. Center, I lean more towards keeping the franchise guy than rotating him out as long as the price tag come contract time isn't insane. At least one day 3 pick needs to go to a guard or tackle every year churning the backup positions. Almost 18% of our team is OL. Investing at least 1 pick a year is just good business. That roster area needs to constantly be churning to try and keep low cost, highest possible quality talent.
    • If you have watched Stroud the past couple of seasons, I think his confidence well has been leaking for some time now. If you look at his overall production it has decline year on year and he just doesn't look comfortable very often. Some of that is loss of OL but it's not like he is getting David Carr'ed. This is the lowest sack rate he has had in his NFL career. It's hard to explain the absolute meltdown he had coming into the postseason. I haven't really seen anything like that other than Jake's one game meltdown and Carson Palmer's wild 2015 two game meltdown(6 TO's against us alone). Both of those QB's didn't last long as NFL starters after that. Not sure what will happen with CJ but I do genuinely question if he is mentally shot. Young's mechanics are unfixable because he(and his team/QB trainer) don't agree with anyone else on his footwork issues. They believe he is doing what will be successful for him.
    • Yes I do remember that. And people say the playbook is not limited.
