Has a big reply typed out and it lost in that crash.
I can’t even remember where I was in it.
Anynow I’ll just agree we were out coached. I knew we would I mean the other side is one of the most experienced coaches in the league.
But Canales never got to the place where I figured he would get outsmarted.or show his greenness. because he outcoaches himself in the first series.
We can assume all the bad Andy would have happened anyway but if he had done like people have said he should with Rico Dalton is handing the ball off not trying to be mobile or rolling out or any of that horseshit.
sigh…

You mean with the MVP candidate QB in the backfield keeping you honest?

As good as Allen is, I don't think he played particularly well yesterday. At some point after Cook gets his 10th carry of 10+ yards in the game, I would probably worry more about that...

Truly an awful job by our team setting the edge and breaking free from blocks that game. Hoping that it was an outlier game for them, because they have otherwise been good with their run D and staying in their gap (outside of maybe the JAX game)

5 yards a carry is good but it still doesn't mean you run it every time.  Rico had a couple long runs which brings up the average, over over 20 yards on at least 1 I believe.  Watching the first half, we typically threw it when it was 3rd and long due to the first couple runs getting stopped.  I mean the fact it was 40-9 and we still ran it more than we passed shows me our goal was to run it on them, we just got in too much of a hole.

5 yards a carry is great IMO opinion because we are talking an average of 2nd and 5, which means the defense can't sit solely on the pass or run. I understand 5 is an average and not all carries are going to be that, but he definitely had better runs than Chuba. When we have Chuba running the ball for 1 or 2 yards and getting stuck in 2nd and 8 or 3rd and 6, we have to pass - which as we saw was the nail in the coffin for us with Dalton back there.

The only 2 drives in the game where we had a legit chance of scoring (before garbage time) was the drive we scored a FG on and the drive Andy took the inexcusable sack on to cost us points. No coincidence that the RB on the field those drives was Rico (who pretty much picked up 5+ yards every carry outside of that goofy direct snap play).

It really needs to be a 2-to-1 ratio of snaps in favor of Rico going forward (unless Chuba gets better). I don't care if we are paying Chuba more. Other teams have had no problem benching the guy being paid more if the other player is doing better - just look at the Falcons and them starting Penix over Cousins like 6 games into his rookie season.

Agreed but we still get blown out because Dalton looked like the Red Musket.  He as all over the place, highly ineffective.  As much as many of you hate or dislike Young.  Young would have been far more decisive.

The weird thing is I think Dalton looked at his best Sunday when we let him throw the ball in the intermediate range (10-15 yards). Yet, we pretty much only wanted him running that swing pass to Horn or screen passes most of the 1st half, which Buffalo picked up on after like 3 pass plays.

Don't get me wrong - Dalton was complete ass. But much like Bryce, the play calling hurt him more than it helped.

5 of his 7 first half carries were at least 5 yards.  Rico is flat out playing great.

Rico single handedly got us back in and won that Miami game down 17.  It was only a 16 hole at the half.  We got ball.

by the time Rico got his first (and only) second half carry.....it was then a 37 point hole.

He is getting some heat, but PFF should do a score for the coaches and Canales should get a negative billion rating.

Yeah, each passing week I am realizing that the games we have won are in spite of Canales, not because of him.

I think more than Bryce, we need to move on from Canales. Dude just flat out is a bad coach

Canales should be shown the door for this whole Rico/Chuba debacle. He has a miracle like Rico fall in his lap and he says "naw I'm good". I mean someone with 0 football knowledge would know better.  Whatever blow this piece of sh*t up once again.

We need a new team.  A real new team.  GM, HC, and QB.  We keep forcing bad dudes into the new operations as well.
