Speaking of Scourton, what has really stood out to me the last few weeks…  almost every game, the tackle tasked with him is false starting almost every play and it’s only be called maybe once.  Go back and watch the games, but I’m seeing it 10+ times a game.  The tackles are a full stride back before the ball is snapped and the rest of the team is moving.  It’s wild and so blatant.

He must be making quite an impression on the opponents as well.

The problem with Bryce as a backup is the turnover issues. It would be one thing if he could go out there and be a low level game manager while protecting the ball, but he goes out there and plays like a low level game manager while also turning the ball over. That's a heavy lift to overcome. If you're going to turn the ball over you have to also bring the upside of being able to move the ball and put up points. Bryce is the worst combo of both.

his int yesterday was one of those "anticipation" plays we always hear about problem is bryce literally didnt see that safety shifting over

I just think it was an awful throw. He was trying to throw to the back pylon and just missed terribly. He had a little bit of pressure in his face and he can't deal with that. That's when the awful throws usually happen. I don't have a problem with that shot if it's thrown to the back pylon where it should've been. That ball thrown correctly to the outside is either caught by XL of is safely missed high and/or outside. You cannot miss that throw short and inside.

Pretty sure it was both.  And the screen throw to rico that he literally jumped to do and it sailed over his head.  That type of poo is not fixable

Also, in regards to XL and guys like Renfrow and JHJ, it’s hard to truly evaluate them because they aren’t getting enough opportunities.  XL, to me, seems like he turned a corner, which was evident in that career game a couple of weeks ago…  but then he’s only getting a couple of targets over the next couple of weeks.  Not to pile on Bryce because everyone knows where I stand on him, but it’s because of him.  Bryce made a nice throw to him yesterday, XL made a nice clutch grab, and then a packers defender took a cheap shot on him and he was out for a bit (I believe he came back?).  But, overall, it feels like for most of our WRs it’s feast or famine and no in between:  it’s not enough consistency in targets and distribution.

Yep, that was another one where there was traffic and he was having to try to loft the ball up and over a defender. That's where the big problems happen with Bryce. His release point is just a good foot shorter than most QBs and trying to loft balls up and over traffic causes a lot of his high misses and we all know that high misses in the open field are big problems.

That's why I'd love to make a move for a guy like Jameis or Howell. Yeah, it might come with turnovers but at least a guy like that would give us a better ability to evaluate our offensive skill positions. I mean, Bryce is already producing the turnovers so what are we even talking about worrying about turnovers? When you're only completing 11 passes and only attempting 20 there's not a lot to evaluate.

I think I agree with you on most of this, even on Young.  He's playing like a backup and always has. He's able to make a play when you absolutely need it. He's also able to make the most boneheaded mistake in the most crucial part of the game. .

I wouldn't be against signing bryce to a longer contract and moving him to backup when the time is right. Andy may be a good mentor, but his time on field is likely done
