How you guys liking it ?  Still believe it wont ruin pro and big time college sports ?  I don't.  I think its much more widespread than we will ever know,  that guys are throwing games across all sports.   I realize it was going on before but the 2018 move ensured organized criminals can get away with making billions and your favorite athletes are on the take or liable to be.

I have mixed views on it. I know it was still going on behind the scenes prior to the big rise the last few years. I do think that it will eventually stomp out some of the corruption once regulations develop more and are enforced more. I think there is some shady poo still going on, especially in the NFL but I just don’t think anyone has been held accountable yet. I think in the next 3-5 years there will be a big bust in the NFL where there was collusion at high levels to influence the outcome of certain games/seasons. And when that happens there will be a lot of pissed off big money that will root a lot of the BS out.

So you are saying that you are willing to watch rigged games for several years  or as long as it takes to weed out cheating or some of the cheating to get it back to the level of the " old days"?  you think that the folks pulling the strings are going to happily weed themselves out ?    That is what mixed views and the rest of your answer tells me, though I might be reading you wrong.

Good luck to you and your family with that bro.

I'm good. Typically only bet 5-10 bucks and am up a couple thousand dollars since it became legal although I was basically even until I hit a few weeks in a row. It could definitely be very problematic if I didn't occasionally win and I have a cap each month how much I'm willing to spend. The problem is a vast majority of gamblers can't do that. Bro

Well I’ve always had the feeling that the NFL influences certain games to match their preferred storyline. I think before sports betting was so widespread it was harder to sort out and less people cared. I think the bigger betting gets, it will eventually come to an end. As more money pours into it, more rocks are going to get turned over and I think it’ll actually make the sport a lot better in the long run.

I Almost hit a 3500 dollar parlay off 10 bucks on the 4 o'clock games. Needed two more yards from st Brown. Should have cashed out for a couple hundred dollars but I'm greedy

This is why I give up on just about all parlays except ones like you just mentioned. I just stick to singles and keep rolling money over on the ones I hit.

yes.  I dont know about the vast majority but I would guess a good  percentage can not stop when they start losing- as all gamblers will eventually.  Its just a matter of time.  The odds are not in the gamblers favor.  Just as debilitating as any other addiction.

    • Either way there's some tough teams on the schedule this year, on paper anyways.
    • Same. I would prefer a MNF game earlier in the season. As if more likely has some significance in case things go south this season. If we perform well enough we could even get another game forced to a Sunday night spot later in the season.
    • Wanted to jump into this thread. Although I do not post anymore I do look in as there are a few old friends around. Loved hearing some of the names you mentioned.  Another  oldie is NanceUSMC.  He is the one who got me here from the old Observer forum.  Good guy and smart football guy. I have learned a lot from a lot of good Huddlers over the years, Over time. we have sadly lost a few who left this earth too soon.  Anyone who know of someone, it would be nice to try to make a list.  One of the more recent, CosmoGirl,  was someone that kind of hit hard.  Life sucks sometimes. Some of the best times were when we had our own tailgate and could meet up in person.  I think it made us better. Several dedicated volunteers, lead by LiverMush, started setting things up in the wee hours of each gameday morning.  Don't know all those regulars but I remember JakeFlake was one.  For you newbies...each game,  a Huddler (or a group) sponsored the food for each tailgate.  Eating was free but a donation was asked for.  At the end of the year those donations were used to buy bicycles for Toys for Tots.  Over the years Huddlers bought a lot of new bikes for kids for Christmas.  (I am guessing a couple of hundred each year.)  We had a good time getting together, got to make friends in person, and then got to feel like you were doing something good. It was truly a community. I got to meet Dan Morgan at one of our tailgates...he brought pizza from his restaurant.  How many of you remember that?  Glad the restaurant did not make it....lol. Not only have people changed, and come and gone.....but the entire nature and purpose has changed. Nothing lasts forever and we move on but we still like to think about good times. Same reason we take pictures. Want to ask a question I have not seen anyone else mention......who remembers    "The Couch" ?  We have argued, laughed, lived the ups and downs of football and dealt with a little real life along the way.  A thanks to  the Mods who keep this going.  I am sure they sacrifice a lot of their time out of love for the forum and the Panthers. Take care my friends and be well.  I will close with my new favorite quote which I think is greatly needed in these difficult times.
