the 49ers are likely our worst matchup of the season....

Injuries don’t matter when it comes to the Niners.  They are coached and built so damn well.

I will say this to some of the other points made in this thread - I do NOT understand why we continue to play the LBs so much.  I noticed it as we got later in the Atlanta game when ATL had to pass, I even asked in the game day thread, if you’re 99% sure they’re passing, especially several plays in a row, why tf do we still have Cherelus out there?  At the very least put an extra safety out there - someone with better movement and fluidity in space.  I understand Ransom was injured and out last week, but I would really like to see us put some packages out there with 4 rushers and Ransom and Richardson as sub LBs.  Rozeboom is really just a hustle guy and Cherelus is a hole stomping thumper who is a complete liability in coverage.  But, NGL, once Kittle catches it, we’re gonna have hell bringing him down, especially if we go smaller.

Didn't see who all was out there on ATL's last minute drive for the tying FG, but you can't just throw all safeties and corners out there in the back 7 when ATL is running the ball for like 8 yards a carry against us... And you still want a LB or 2 out there in case ATL runs a screen or sneaks a run. Unfortunately for us, Wallace + Ransom being hurt didn't let us go with our usual Big Nickel package with 3 corners, 3 safeties, and Wallace in the back 7

No, I definitely consider all of what you’re saying.  But that final drive they had, we KNEW they were passing.  And I believe we kept Cherelus and Rozeboom out there.  I agree, once Wallace is back healthy, I would love to see him and Ransom out there as the subs in a big nickel, but I know with the injuries we were a little hamstrung.  But yeah, if we KNOW they have to pass, I see no reason Cherelus should be out there.

I think one of them (maybe Rozeboom) is the green dot responsibility and calling our plays, so they can't come out. ATL is a tougher matchup also because they have big bodied receivers (I think that is why Smith-Wade rode the bench a lot of the game).

My bigger problem was Evero reverting back to his old self only calling the same cover 3 drop the entire 1st half. Played way too far back off the line of scrimmage and ATL just kept sneaking a curl route (usually London) in under a corner/go route and it was always open. Evero finally changed up the scheme in the 2nd half and the D actually looked somewhat competent (also helped Penix got hurt)

Sell out to stop the pass? Why in the world would they do that.

one half of football vs Atlanta doesn’t rewrite how you play us.

Yeah you’re probably right.

They are ranked 29th against the pass, which is the worst we have seen this year other than Dallas.

They have also allowed 10TD/3INT and 1250 yards passing in the last 4 games, including 452 yards last week to Jacoby Brissett.

Yeah, why would they adjust, it’s not like they are a professional football team or anything. They will probably just run goal line or something. You should probably reach out to Bob Saleh and let him know he doesn’t have to adjust, he might forget otherwise.

It is a road game. We are on a road win streak.

I agree we should have a shot because they have weaknesses but am also well aware of the week to week Jekyll Hyde factor slash yo yo effect, up down up down.

If it were a 1pm game in Charlotte I’d feel better about it.

This place has their team rankings. Stat wise.

I’m more upset that we are changing uniforms in the middle of this road win streak. We have won our last 3 road games in Silver Helmets, White Jerseys, and Blue Pants.

We are supposedly wearing Black Helmets, White Jerseys, Black Pants this week…

I am a superstitious person

Nah, you are right.  The 49ers are going to throw out all the film on the Panthers and design a unique gameplan purely off of one half of football vs the anomaly career Bryce Young opponent.  Sell out to stop the pass.....and dare Rico Dowdle to beat them in light boxes.   That makes way more sense.

Eh. Don't speak it into existence lol. We've got enough on our plate just trying to overcome the bad juju of what has been our historically bad perfomances more often than not in primetime over the course of 30 years. We're overdue for a statement primetime game!

    • A lot of people have been slobbing all over this last draft but I hate the way that Fitterer/Morgan have built this offense since drafting Bryce. Anyone with eyes knew our IOL was crap but we didn't invest there and instead took project receivers and an injured RB. If you want a lesson in how build for your QB wrong, IMO, this was it. Draft him, protect him, THEN get him weapons. Its pretty much a rule, draft interior linemen, pay tackles. We're paying everyone. We had the opportunity to draft a center instead of Brooks, or perhaps instead of trading up for XL, trade back and take 2 guards/center. We could have paid Lewis and still drafted 2, but Hunt at 100m was just an overpay. And it's not like the guys many of us were begging us to draft were long shots. They're solid starters from day 1. Injuries happen. That's why all your starters can't be high value players. You need rookie contracts mixed in to be able to absorb those inevitable losses on the line. An offensive line playing an entire season together is an abnormality.  Factor into that also paying Moton 44m this offseason with a huge signing bonus when we didnt need to do right now to do him a "solid".  Now we have to sign Icky and possibly Bryce and it's a mess with more money tied up in the offense, inevitable cuts and dead cap coming. That's not even factoring in shifting Corbett to C last year after major injury to start at a position he's never played for an NFL season. It's all stuff that was foreseeable and pretty easily avoided.  The $$ and picks we've spent trying to surround Bryce outside of Tmac (Mitchell and Horn are TBD) have been used inefficiently IMO. Smarter drafting and FA with the line could have let us get more reliable weapons than XL and Sanders in FA. It might not be popular opinion, but I'll take a Bersin with hands that can get 6-8 85% of the time vs a big play XL with greasy fingers.  The part about hitting guys in stride was more about placement, which Bryce has struggled with. Obviously not every route is run to be hit in stride, but they do need to have the ball placed well to give the receivers a chance to do something after the catch. I just used Hill as an example because he's the biggest YAC threat I could think of over the past 5 years.   Receivers can feast on dink and dunk if it's schemed right. But to make it work, that vertical threat has to be there, if not the deep pass then the high speed routes that can spring someone for the huge YAC to keep the safeties from cheating into that 20 yard box all game.  I hope DC and Bryce can keep up what they did in the last game and it isnt just an Atlanta thing. But no matter what, I really want to see some better long term strategy coming from the FO.

    • Passing chart had 3 over 20 I think. The Legette TD and another completion and an incompletion. All over 20 yards.  An incompletion at 19 or maybe 20 yards. So you could technically probably say 4 throws 20 or more.     That seems high to me compared to the norm. 45 throws and 10 YPA are both way high.
