Forth and inches.  You put the biggest MF on our team as a fullback and you bulldoze for the first down. Even give him the ball.  He's gonna get 1/4 inch.

This is something I've never understood with most teams. The Ravens, 49ers, etc. for years used a FB, and did it well. I know there aren't many Kyle Juszcyks out there, but...

When you have a tiny little QB and want to run the ball? I think a FB is worth a roster spot. Or, line up Tremble or Evans at FB. Or Derrick Brown for that matter. Let a massive human being use momentum to get a foot.

53 spots is tough to fit a single use player in, especially when you can just sub in an extra OL or TE to perform thise specific FB functions. You have to be an offense that REALLY uses a lead blocker a lot to justify someone like that, even if they play special teams.

Nijman is not the answer at RT. He is a backup.

Our fanbase has a real problem falling in love/believing in backup caliber offensive linemen.

Meh. At this point they’re similar players in pass pro but nijman is a better run blocker. Maybe 3-4 years ago I’d take moton but he’s old and hurt

I think people soon forget that Nijman has had more bad games in Panthers uniforms than good games. He is a backup.

Again, I don't know what it is about this fanbase and backup OL love. It's a bit odd.

The up and down performance of these backups might be odd, except they’re backups.
Zavala and Nijman have looked cut worthy more than once and other times have been pretty good. Who knows what to think….. I usually go with pessimism.

I mean...they are backups. I don't have an issue with them as long as they aren't ALWAYS trash. We have gotten a few good games from some of these backups but tp assume they are "the answer" over literally starting caliber NFL OL is just completely insane.

When I see them looking like deer in headlights, JC players vs pros, I can’t believe when I see them go out and have a decent game wham called on.

And if they did it once, I am not expecting that the next time. Zavala has had some extreme swings where he looked up and coming at times last year but here we are again this year with the 2023 version

Yeah, the PS guy Curhan(sp?) has been very up and down too.

Overall, the OL is the least of my worries. We just need to keep drafting depth.
