What does the NFLPA think they are going to achieve?

I bet some people said the same thing the last time the union did this.... Bang the players won in court.

Smith might be a fool but do not forget we are entering his domain here in litigation. The players will find something they can go to court with for example that it is not legal for the 32 owners to act like one and so on.

I do not back either the owners or the players up. I am on the fans side in this but lets not forget last time the players did this it took 4-5 years before a new CBA was ready.

Apples oranges. Again for the insanely slow, THERE IS NOTHING TO SUE OVER! NOTHING!!!

The last time they sued for free agency and there was precedent in other leagues which allowed them to win. There is nothing to sue for. Aww poor babies not getting what they want pay wise? Sorry not reason to sue.

As for as the 32 owners not acting as one, that was for individual marketing issues, not employment.

the players are fools for letting Smith get them in this, once the union is busted they are in deep dog poo. They are going to lose in court and get their asses handed to them in court. Shoulda fired smith and got to the table and took what they could get.

I'm not a fan of trying your case in the media and I certainly don't think it's going to buy them any favor with the opposition.

Personally I think D Smith is a big part of the problem. I think he's more worried about his legacy than he is getting something done. If Upshaw was still in charge I think this would have been resolved already.

He has said from the start he was going to bust up the Union and sue. An old dog does what he knows best. Upshaw was a player and understood teamwork and Smith is a lawyer so he understands litigation.

A poor rep in the part of the players if you ask me. They will get no where in court and will wast a bunch of money. I really feel sorry for the players cause they are the ones caught up in the cross fire. Us fans will just move on to another sport till the dust settles.

Without a union to represent them, the players are nothing more than independent contractors and are hired and fired at the whim of the owners.

The owners may not be able to legally lock out the players without a union, but that certainly doesn't mean the CBA still does not expire. Then what for the players? No union, no representation and nowhere near the deep pockets the owners have.

The owners will sit back in their fat leather chairs, cigar in mouth, feet on the desk and yawn every time the some player files, or tries to file a lawsuit.

With a lockout the season will probably be played, or at least a good part of it. Without a players union and a CBA, the players will be forced to strike and there probably won't be a season.

The owners are people who've taken a chance, risked it all, and regarded as sh$theads when they make money. The players are those who skated through school, have no sense of responsibility, and expect to be taken care of after they've blown all their money.....

    • You’re playing madden we’re talking real football stuff…. He does have you seen his special on internet he def thinks he’s getting paid
    • Without the team having an identity kinda hard to predict what they value.  They either are really trying to build a balanced team, or preparing for another swing at qb if Bryce doesn’t pan out. Seems like we value the o line but the $ spent there has been underwhelming besides Lewis, you could say it’s because of injuries but still hasn’t been worth the investment. as already stated, the whole handling of Bryce young as a whole has been ass backwards, we spent the years we’re supposed to take advantage of having a qb with a lower cap hit, building the team up to be adequate. now It appears, key word appears, the saints have done it correctly, which is painful to even think about. Regardless, I hope the front office has paid attention to qb contracts recently, such as Tua, Kyler, Daniel jones(pre colts) and don’t settle for subpar qb play at franchise qb rates
    • This is the flaw in your logic.  Cutting 3 of our best players will somehow move us from whatever we are to "compete". Even the most Young super fans are not predicting a ceiling above top 10-12, and that will not nearly cut it.  Someone will need to break the log jam of QBs getting nothing or North of 50. Our qb is at best a middle ground, lets hope it will be us that also manage to pay the worth at about 100 over 3 years.  And before you jump me, yes that is only of he improves.
