Rod’s Future

I think Rod will be around a while longer, though these last three games hurt his stock.

It appears that for these games with nice leads the opponent scores and then the Canes overreact and don’t stick with their game. I think it’s a confidence issue. With Bussi in net they were spoiled by him making great plays and when he let a goal in when the other team made a push, or anytime Freddie is in net and the opponent scores they fall apart and instead of offense the Canes get defensive, overreact and make mistakes.

Is there a sports psychologist in the house? Medic!!!

Apparently making the playoffs is good enough for Dundon, otherwise he would be gone by now

Course now that the league knows the slightest physicality and we come unglued, we might not even do that anymore

What did you want, a bunch of fights? Fights don’t win games, goals do. As far as physicality goes the Canes had 35 hits to the Panthers 32.

The Canes lost in the third when the Panthers scored 5 goals on only 14 SOG. Canes were rarely on offense with only 3 SOG in the period. Canes lost due to defensive breakdowns, mistakes and a poorly defended net. Played in a panic, not their game.

Canes were reported to be very interested in veteran center Phillip Danault, only to see the Kings trade him to Montreal for a 2nd rounder next year.

Not an offensive machine, but a strong 2C who plays excellent D, wins face offs and is strong down the middle.

If people hated KK they would have really disliked him 🤣 5 points zero goals

I don't hate KK. The Canes overpaid and he's enjoying the benefits.

Anyone who assumed he was going to turn into an excellent player based on what the Canes paid him weren't paying attention.

Sure, I wish he was much more physical, he's a big guy, and that's really all I was hoping for when he came to Carolina.

Danault is better in the FO circle, better defensively and better down the middle, but it's a moot point now.

    • The truth is @CarolinaLivin posted it and I took notice at the names and drove into the rabbit hole, just happen it lead to Plebbit. One of my favorite draft gurus loves KC, just that he's around other panther WRs that have struggled..I mean Im about the only XL supporter leftd. Im like 50/50, but honestly haven't done enough to feel strong either. The drop and zone stuff is not what I like the weakness to be, but he is explosive, play all 3 WR spots, and does have playmaking skills which is rare. Right now I wouldn't be upset if panthers used the 51st. Months ago I told the huddle to prepare for a early WR selection.
    • I appreciate the optimism but there's no way in hell anyone is going to give us a 2nd or a 3rd. We'd legitimately be lucky to get a 5th. Logically it really makes no sense to move him this season anyways. We do know he is a high character guy and should be extra motivated to bounce back from last season. See how it goes and revisit next year.
    • I would add that it is probably likely that you need a T during the season--I am wildly speculating that they like something about Forsythe.  However, that is not enough.  We need 4 players who can play OT in the NFL---we have 3. That suggests that we are going to add an OT at some point.  Perhaps related, but probably a pure depth move: Brady Christensen is an interesting situation. He is likely to miss the first 2 months of the 2026 season, and he will be 30.  He can play all OL positions.  That would give depth when it is usually most needed--the last half of the season.  With his injury, I doubt his phone is ringing much.  I think I would offer a 2-year deal (1.5 if you want to be realistic) for the vet minimum.
