he played a very good game for Bryce yesterday…..and every QB that played yesteray (and no one was great) generated more offense for their teams.   And we got legit weapons.  I don’t care where Coker was drafted.  No one feels sorry for Stafford because Puca was a late pick.  

My biggest fear with Bryce Young is that he will always do just enough to stick around. He shows flashes and then drops a turd so the hopium is always there. Like his career highlight reel if you cut it up to some hype music and did a YouTube video would actually be quite good. His great plays really, really look good. But after that video you look at his yearly averages for completion percentage, yardage, touchdowns, and virtually every other metric and it is meh as fug. Like you know Bryce is gonna be 13/23 for 157 yards a touchdown and probably a pick. 

I will 100% give him his flowers for his athleticism and ability to scramble outside the pocket. I haven’t seen the mythical “super processing ability” he was touted for per se, but he has shown flashes of absolutely elite awareness when it comes to scrambling. The little basketball move he does to shake defensive linemen has almost become a signature move. It’s hard to explain but you know it when you see it he stops on a dime and pivots like he is gonna hit a step back jumper and it has gotten him out of a lot of trouble. 

I sincerely, truly, as a vocal Bryce HATER, hope that since we are obviously running with him next year the coaching staff actually tailors plays around his strengths. He needs to be in a pure spread IMO. His size is much less of a hindrance when he can play QB in open space. I feel like most of his highlight reel is from scrambles and play action/bootlegs.

I'm going to say what probably shouldn't need to be said but I guess I have to break it down anyway.  They were the 15th ranked scoring defense.  This matters because Evero's style is bend but don't break, which we did a lot of.  The Panthers ranked around 20th in the league in time of possession.  The longer the defense is on the field, the more yardage and points they're going to give up.  We were toward the bottom of the league at like EVERY offensive category.  In essence, we hung the defense out to dry.  So I say, once again, Bryce Young is a plague that has infected the entire team.  He's horrible, and he's dragging everyone down with him.

He's pretty much exactly what I thought he was during the draft process. A really good backup or meh starter.

First off let’s just establish we were not the 15th ranked scoring offense we were the 16th. Secondly, the 16th scoring defense is even by your own chosen statistic chosen totally average and not special. To anyone that actually cares about defensive advanced statistics, EPA per play is much more effective in determining the actual quality of a defense we ranked 23rd. We were 30th in sacks as a defense, Everos defense is exactly bend don’t break. It naturally gives teams the opposing team the time of possession advantage. This defense is by no means good, in fact at best it is a marginally below average group. I’m not even trying to defend the offense that is also a below average group, but it’s pretty clear we need to upgrade the defensive significantly before we’re close to being Super Bowl contenders.

That can be a chicken or the egg scenario. Canales knows what the QB is good at and is not good at better than we do. 
He would have reasons for not calling deep shots, if he is holding back. They could include protection concerns, as well as any Young related motivations. 
I think there always the chance Bryce doesn’t see the man open down the field and it is just that simple, more than a confidence issue. Probably a mix of the two.

5 of the top 10 defenses in the league didn't even make it to the playoffs.  To suggest that the roster isn't built to compete right now because the defense isn't ranked highly is not backed up by reality when the majority of the top defenses didn't even make the playoffs.  I'm not arguing that the defense doesn't need to be upgraded.  So does the offense.  Every team in the league could say they need upgrades at various positions.  I'm arguing that upgrading the defense won't matter, at all, so long as Bryce Young is the QB.
