Raiders interviewing Panthers DC Ejiro Evero for a second time next week

Recommended Posts

Maybe I'm just being cynical, but I think that Evero getting a bunch of interviews speaks more of the Rooney Rule and teams being required to interview minority coaches than EE's performance over the past few years. I don't know if I'm holding my breath that he's getting a HC gig.

They've checked that box. No need to go through with a second interview unless they're truly considering him.

By just about every account he is extremely impressive in an interview setting. I don't think he would be getting so many interviews if it was just about ticking a box. I am not saying some aren't trying to hit that bird with a stone too but I think many of these teams do have real interest.

One does wonder if his on field results have kept him from getting a few of these.

Well if he comes back, he's signed through 2030 along with Dave Canales. They matched up Evero's contract with Canales.

January 2030 for both.

Edited to add this, with all the reporting, people missed Dan saying they were aligning their contracts together to end at the same time. (Canales 6 year deal from 2024-2030.)

He impressed Pittsburgh and Las Vegas both in first Interviews. I believe he has a better shot at the Pittsburgh job than the LV one.

I mean, they should. That's what you're trying to hire - a guy who is going to produce results on the field. Don't get meatballed like old Hurndog. LOL

I don't think anyone is upset about continuity but one does wonder how much losing we will have to endure to see if that is a winning combo.

You also have to wonder if that timeline will eventually be matched with a Bryce contract extension.

That is nightmare fuel.

But a smart organization(recently) like the Lions get rooked by Drew Petzig for a job.

And you can everyone in Miami to hire....a sub .500 former Boston College HC???

Worse decisions have already happened this cycle, IMO. And most of these teams looking for HC's aren't known for making wise choices.

I did, it's one guy speculating and also calling the Raiders a premier NFL job, which made me laugh for about a minute straight.

Yeah the premier job part was pretty funny.
But they have that number one pick and it is going to QB.

IMO they are gonna follow the script, most likely, and go offensive guy to groom and develop the QB

That's how Crazy Old Al Davis sold it for years. A real NFL head coaching job! 1 of 32 in the world!

McDaniels left without a deal. I’d be surprised if LV didn’t hire EJ today. Time for Tepper to put his money where his mouth is and pay McDermott

I have a hard time picturing McDermott answering to Canales.

    • there is one common denominator in the 2003 & 2015 Carolina Panthers teams they both had ELITE top tier Qb play.  it would require a MVP type of season from Bryce Young to have the same type of success that Jake Delhomme had in  2003 & or Cam Newton in 2015 & lead this team to a SuperBowl is this going to happen or is there any reason to believe Bryce Young is capable of playing similar to Jake Delhomme in 2003 or Cam Newton in 2015 ? well no there is no absolutely NO reason whatsoever to believe that this is going to happen in 2026 ..just saying
    • I'd actually like to see Cherelus get a fair shot to win the job in camp. Wallace is decent in drop zone coverage, but he gets abused in the play action game and is often times out of position in the run game. It might just be me, but I swear every time I watch Wallace play, I see multiple plays a game were it looks like he's just trying to be blocked. Watching Cherelus last year he at least looked like he was trying to hit someone on every play. Wallace plays like a LB who doesn't trust what he sees and it makes him passive and cautious versus Cherelus who regardless of if his decision is right or wrong goes at it 100%.
    • Agreed.  Hasn’t happened to me either, but I feel very strongly about it.  That’s not just one of the worst things a woman could do to a man, it’s a power inherent to only women and is one of the worst things a HUMAN being can do to another.  A man can’t “hide” a pregnancy or maternity.  It’s impossible.  And that sucks for anyone that has to go through that. I always got a weird vibe off her and just found her very unlikeable.  Annoying even.  I’ve always been good at reading people and there was just something about her to me that was off-putting, somewhere under the surface.  And here we are…  she is despicable.
