Could Morgan be eyeing Trey Hendrickson

If we ran a 4-3 defense and had him playing next to Derrick Brown (as 4-3 NT or 3 Technique ideally) I'd make that move in a minute. He weighs about 270 and is tailor made to play as an edge rusher in a 4-3 defense.

However, we seem to be locked in to the 3-4 scheme in Carolina. Hendrickson is too small to play has a 3-4 DE. That position would also neutralize his ability to come off the edge b/c he would now be playing inside of a OLB and going up against interior lineman.

I don't think he's ever played as an OLB either. He's be bad fit in Carolina unless we moved to a 4-3 defensive scheme.

That's nonsense. We have Wharton playing NT at times, so there is no such thing as a misfit in an Evero DL, apparently.

Im out on this one- smart huddles have aleady mentioned these, here are the top 3 reasons NOT to sign trey.

1. Age

2. He's a career 4-3 end

3. Money/cap space.

He may have a couple more 15+ sacks seasons of the health can get back on the plus side, but odds are against him. If he were a HOFer level player, I'd go for it. Draft another edge guy in this deep draft and turn prince and nic loose next year.

Mike Kaye has mentioned him, but go after the other Bengal, Ossai. Get Ossai who's entering his prime years for 30% of the price, and then use the money to fill other needs.

Scourton, Ossai, Pat Jones, Princely, Draft Pick. Unless a 26-27 year old star is there, a 31 year old Hendrickson commanding big money seems like a poor allocation of resources.

I generally always prefer the guy that has headroom, hasn’t topped out. And is younger.

Dan promised not to be reckless.
But this Icky situation impacts what he can do in the draft, I am afraid.
It comes down to can we best replace Icky in FA or through the draft, and if it looks like draft then they will use FA for their edge.

If it is only two years, and it fails, it is not the end of the world.  I guess.

I agree that Icky’s injury has tossed a curveball at our offseason plans for sure. Knowing that Moton’s days are numbered as well only point more in that direction.

I will say though, we have a combination of two second-year recent draftees and a couple of JAGs at EDGE. I think this is the prime time to balance they younger guys out with a vet EDGE vs another 1st or 2nd rounder.

Same goes for TE & WR. We’ve spent the draft capital there, let’s add a young complimentary vet to these units rather than more inexperienced youth. TBH, I would throw a day 3 pick at a shifty/speedy WR in the mold of Tez Johnson or a McMillan type like Tampa has done.

I know you are a draft nut, here's the bottom line. Panthers still need another couple rounds of talent injection. Personally Id take another 2025-like draft with the UDFAs fillers right now and forget the rest.

Just need talented players, no matter the positions. I've even thought about if Dbrown got a young pup running mate like Rams young, verse, or Fiske. I think that would open up many things for D and Brown to win DPOY.

Last chip- Dbrown, Tmac, Lewis, and Hunt. Those are the only true spots that are untouchable type stuff. Every other spot on the field can and should be upgraded. (injuries have hit two of them..)So draft talented players at them......

We have to find a pass rush. Probably not him since he’s a little past his prime but he would still help. Any legit pass rusher would help, to me that’s our top priority this off-season beside maybe shoring up the o-line now. I wish a trade for Maxx wouldn’t cost the farm but that’s not happening.

Pass rush is very close to QB, most times teams have to draft it. But Parsons was traded and Wilson(lols) was trade for. Just the price AND tanker load of draft coins. The best method is draft and pray they are difference makers and want to stay on the team($$). Maxx coming off a injury and hitting 29.....you know another injury is going to happen and then he's 33 coming off a ACL tear making 42 million..hattin life ...

All true but I would still take him he’s just built different.

It’s all just fantasy football chit chat for me tho, Raiders would be asking for like a Bryce Young type of trade, no bueno.

Have to draft a guy early or sign someone that’s all I do know.
