That concern has always been present for me.

I think we'll know their intentions if they once again forego drafting a young QB to develop. With all the resources we have spent to make this team competitive there should be no justifiable reason not to add another young talent to the most consequential position on the field.

Well, for QB next year, we have this year to look at Bryce. Again. He is starting and they aren’t working on alternatives.

As of now he is starting this year. 100%, barring injury. They got someone they think can run the offense for backup. To challenge Andy lol. Their intentions are, we have another year of Bryce.

I don’t need them to force it and waste a pick on a QB especially if they believe next year looks way better.
So that being the case, in my mind, unless someone they love just falls to us later in the draft I don’t know that I care if they take someone this year, just to take someone. I wouldn’t object, I just don’t think it is something to prioritize.

We are just in that place where he needs to turn the corner, and running out of corners fast. If he truly stinks it up this year or doesn’t show clear progress, I have to trust them to see it.

Kenny Pickett like Andy Dalton before him has no future here.

If Bryce isn't the answer then we have to use our first on a QB next year. And if we already have one young QB on the roster that seems like a plus to me. Then he and the next one can compete and make one another better. We have got to stop this coddling nonsense all around. Competition is a good thing and makes everyone better. Leave the feelings at the door. It's a business.

Well we should be at a crossroads like, about right now. I say show your stuff enough to win us a bunch of games. 17 games I want to see the QB play really well at least 13 or 14 of those games to accept that he is legit going forward. But I don’t get to say.

I am not saying no to a young QB I am just not wanting to do it to prove some point. He needs to be legit as well as far as potential or why are we doing it?

I just don't think it's fair to all the other guys on the roster nor is it logical to have the only other option on the roster be Kenny Pickett. For better or worse the FO is going all in this season. I mean if we're being realistic what are the odds that Bryce Young just suddenly stops playing awful football at the beginning of the season after 3 consecutive years of doing so and now about 50 games worth of tape under his belt? Even 50/50 seems highly optimistic wouldn't you say? I don't see adding a mid round QB with potential as proving a point I see it as operating like a smart football team for a change. And because of that I feel it's unlikely to happen so I'll be quite surprised if they actually do it. We'll see.

You don't draft a mid round Qb with potential to stick him on the practice squad. He needs reps and that's gonna come as QB2. It's Bryce and KP or bust. I feel like we're playing roulette trying to outsmart the house. Maybe we win big, but the odds aren't in our favor.

I had other QBs I was interested in and had no interest in Picket. Don’t ask me I can’t explain it.
I will say if the team is good enough to win with Bryce it is probably good enough to win with Picket. 🤷‍♂️

At the end of the day it's much easier to take this position in March. We'll see how you feel in December if our passing output is still hovering around bottom 5 or 10 in the league.

Oh I think it will be. My point was that we need to be trying to get better in the QB room. KP doesn't do that. He's not going to be a long term plan with a 1 year contract. He's just insurance.

This "should" be a make or break year for Bryce. Either He's a guy worthy of an extension or not. Bringing in a rookie number 2 with potential may net us nothing, or it could get us something. The one thing we can be certain of is KP gets us nothing and that's not a good position to be in.

I don't want to go into next year with no number 2, Bryce not having developed I to a real QB1, and sitting at 12 or 15 needing to move up to take a QB in the draft just like we did for Bryce. It's not an outcome I see going well for us.

Yeah I find myself flipping between the worst case scenario of Bryce either playing just mediocre enough for our decision makers to justify giving him a contract extension in their eyes because they want to justify drafting him.

Or Bryce going back to playing poorly and us having no one else to fall back on because Pickett might be decent for one or two games but there's no one else and our locker room starts to get ugly because we went all in with our salary cap and guys careers are on the line. This scenario which IMO is the higher probability given our schedule and the amount of tape out there on Bryce is why I say if we can trade down and acquire a few more mid or late round picks we should draft a developmental QB. Not looking for a guy to be the savior but someone with the necessary physical tools and who could actually run a QB sneak.

But we'll just have to see how it shakes out. I just want a competitive team but the last thing I want is the season to fall apart because we once again threw our arms up in regards to the QB room.

I think with Teps comments this offseason Bryce is here to stay.  I have mentally prepared myself for this.  Closely watching Miami and AZ to see how long it takes to correct a mistake

Just about every position group on this team is legit right now, expect the QB room, its STILL one of the weakest in the NFL. Pickett made it weaker, holy hell Dan.......He needs to draft TY Simpson to save the team.....
