I think it's a good move for a couple off reasons. Punting was an area we had no worries with last season. The guy could put the ball right where it needed to be and he was excellent at getting them inside the 20, 15, 10, 5... whatever we needed.

But the other factor is his relationship with our young kicker. He wasn't just the punter, but also the holder on field goal attempts and his veteran skills there may have helped turn out UDFA into a kid that is going to be fantastic for us in the coming years.

Plus, man, I'm always going to be in favor of App State players.

And the 4th down attempts where he wasn’t used.

Jets led the league with 41 4th down attempts, we had 40.

Ahhh touché.

So if you remove half of our fourth down attempts that would put us at 76 punts which would be 3rd in the league.

What a laughably putrid offense.

We were also 24th in first downs and 26th in third downs despite having at one point in the season arguably the most productive RB in the league.

When you actually dig into the numbers you see why Canales was going for it on fourth so often. Legitimately it was the only way he could make this Bryce Young led offense look even partially productive statistically when it was all said and done.

I read the first paragraph and thought you were about to bash Dave. Anyone with a brain can see we have a solid head coach and front office with a Bryce problem.

I've been critical of Dave for some of his gameday decisions but it's certainly plainly obvious to anyone with eyes his offense is significantly handcuffed by the most integral moving part within.

I didn’t even need numbers to know, but that is why I have been listening lobbying for a bruiser RB for two years. We need a short yardage bull.
For me, what would the offense more than a TE is that, and if can get one like Tolbert that can be a target within 5 yards either side of the LOS it would be a lot more useful.
And if we can’t get a big boy that catches we still need a bull, and a pass catcher at RB.
