Here's another.  I started at the end of the Vikings pick because they are talking about lazy picks, then turn around and have us taking Sadiq.  I swear guys, I am not selectively choosing these videos to make a point,  I click and this is what they say.  Again, I think everyone is starting to copy one another on these mocks.

Let's tighten this up.  Instead of a new thread about certain news, rumors and mocks by media types leading up to Thursday's draft, capture it all here.

So Klatt, Simms and McShay most recent mocks (literally all this morning) have us taking Sadiq. Thoughts? I hate it.

Kiper, who sucks, says the safety out of Toledo.

Also, Trent Williams re-signed with the 49ers.

There's no way Sadiq is the pick. His production makes him a day 2 or 3 pick. He is being way overhyped on the combine measurements alone.

Don't get fooled. Oregon's offense is all about spreading the ball around. Sadiq was their leader in catches and TD receptions, and #2 in receiving yardage. They've only had two 1000 yard receivers since 2020 and both of them were in 2023 so they still didn't have that one clear cur #1 go to guy. Receivers don't go to Oregon to put up gaudy stats, they go there because they know there not gonna get buried and they'll get opportunities to have balls come their direction.

He's not even the best TE in this draft. He's massively overhyped. Ian Thomas 2.0.

TE in general is a tough position to evaluation on "production."  So much depends on system, usage, QB etc...  You have Bowers and Warren (for one year) that really tipped the scale on receiving stats.  Kittle's college stats weren't crazy, neither were Kelce's,  McBride had one great year at Colorado St with 3 meh years.  Tucker Kraft didn't light it up at a small school either.  Sadiq is clearly an explosive receiving threat who can block well.  It's on the staff of whoever drafts him to develop him and use him right.

Production vs. traits. Panthers love them some guys with traits and that is what worries the crap out of me.   Why do you think we kept Ian Thomas around for so long? He had traits, but could never gets those traits to translate into production.

Yes, those are 1st round TEs worth the pick. Otherwise, minus those types of credentials, draft a guy who can really contribute and help out the team.

I am with you-hate it.  Kiper is the biggest scam I have ever seen.  We could do better.

He had significantly more production this year than Ian Thomas had in his entire college career and they're not even in the same universe athletically. I mean, anyone in the draft can end up busting for a variety of reasons but not gonna sugarcoat it, that's a really dumb player comp.

Who is the best TE this draft?

I think the most promising TE is the NC State kid. Right now I wouldn't take any them before the 4th round. I could be convinced there's nothing left worth taking in the 3rd and take him then but that depends on who's left on the board.

People keep saying Sadiq wasn't targeted while failing to recognize that he literally had the most targets and receptions for Oregon this year. The guy had a god awful YRR and YAC (like bottom 50% of TEs in college football and worse than many TEs that won't even get drafted) while also having a drop rate north of 10%. His receiving yard total was crap in large part because of his failure to do anything after the catch.

From the tape I have seen of him, he only has straight line speed - he is surprisingly way slower than he should be laterally. This is one of the reasons he was primarily used as a seam and screen TE (also solid success with slants) - he just doesn't have a quick break when running a corner, out, or dig route and badly rounds these routes off (this will lead to QBs throwing INTs).

I get he had a crazy combine and the dude is a freak athlete, but he has so many red flags, it's hard to keep track of all of them. Just too many unknowns to draft him in the 1st IMO

Its not a comp  it's a similar situation but costs a 1st. The kid cant block and has short arms, his production equals 25 yrds/gm. That's not a 1st round pick.
