We signed an athlete at TE

Recommended Posts

Here is the deal--the Panthers are taking chances on athletes that could evolve into solid players  Most UDFAs are known commodities who are longshots--why not sign an elite athlete--a smart player--and let him adapt to a role?  I like it, frankly, because it suggests that we are turning over every stone.

Pro Day Performance

At Nebraska's Pro Day, the 6-foot-4, 237-pound athlete showed off impressive combine metrics well-suited for his transition to tight end: [1, 2]

40-Yard Dash: 4.45 - 4.55 (unofficial)

Vertical Jump: 38 inches

Broad Jump: 10 feet, 8 inches [1]

Turn over stones. At worst, give a guy a chance to chase his dreams and he doesn't make the team. At best you find an UDFA like Andrew Norwell who becomes a fixture on your team. But guys that aren't getting done season after season and somehow still stay on the roster, Ian Thomas immediately comrs to mind. That poo needs to stop.
